• Last night the mayor was the tie-breaker for the administration building. Basically saying the building is a GO and the bonds won’t be taken out until October. What was NOT said was the building can still be stopped. If two current councilors, or two future councilors want a re-vote on the issue before October, that is an option. Depending on who wins on Tuesday, I expect a re-vote on the project.
• The last of Councilor Candidate forums will be on Thursday, 5:30 PM at Carnegie Hall (tomorrow). This is usually the best forum to watch, each group of councilors get an hour to answer questions from the public.
• Theresa’s podcast with John Michael’s FORUM is now online. She was the only AT-Large candidate to be interviewed by John. John says in the podcast he struggled to track down the other two candidates.
• The final candidate financial reports before the election are due tomorrow at 5 PM. Some are up now.
• Carnegie Town Hall will be hosting early voting Saturday morning.
• In other news, Union pensioners plan a protest at Rounds’ Sioux Falls office tomorrow at 2 PM.
It’s interesting that in the “Great State of South DaCola” the taxpayer’s would not be informed this could all be rejected by the voter’s. Is this a plush reward by the Mayor who has seemingly perpetuated fear of the Native American’s by going on camera with some intoxicated few in the City Park next to the County parking lot? This is the same Mayor, right?
The admin building must be killed. Obviously, the old council keeps this going. ‘Yes’ is crooked contractor election donations and Huether kickbacks beyond the end of his term. With a new mayor, there will be restored competitive bids process and the end of Huether corruption. After Huether, there’ll be a new finance director and we’ll finally learn the debt. With an I bond rating there will be no funding. A city admin building is needed but it’s gonna take years to recover from Huether country club spending.
It’s times like this when we need a clown car instead of the city MRAP for parades. A Mini with the mayor and council packed inside. Every time the parade stops they pile out and run around the car in different directions honking bicycle horns.
