Word yesterday was that Sioux Falls is 9th best managed city in the country. It’s not because of the dictator mayor. It’s because directors and the council have preserved enough budget to keep the infrastructure built by former mayors.

Of course Huether will take credit. We’ll have to deal with his ego another year and a half. He’s gonna force feed us the admin building because he can. Home Rule Charter gives him absolute power.

It should be called the Rex Rolfing Annex for Building Permit Pick Up. If he hadn’t caved under pressure from the Mayor to vote for the project we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

Just curious. Isn’t there a mechanism for a bond in which citizens can get a petition to get the question on the ballot?

The city taxpayers pays over $820,000 a year for the council and it’s supporting staff. Why are wasting this $820,000 a year when we have bully with the power of veto?

I listened to yesterday and todays podcast from mmm’s public relations director (belfrage) and both days were treated like the council voted down a admin bldg. No. The council wanted to explore further options, like the 300 bldg.

I was also struck by mmm’s comments about bully’s. Really mayor? From the city employees I talk too, you are a classic 5′ 8″ bully with a little man complex who throws the f bomb around a lot more than is comfortable for a “leaders” role.

  5. From the Argus Leader:
“We’ve done our due diligence,” Huether said, adding that the project has been vetted more than the indoor pool and Premier Center combined.

What a crock of $hit. Huether has the right to veto, I get it. But what I disagree with and what he should be held accountable for is the tactics he’s used to sell his new building.

Using the same contractor and architect to lie about the other, more affordable, remodel option.

It doesn’t cost $300 per square foot to remodel commercial space. It’s more inline with $170.

He blatantly had his employees engage in a conflict of interest to sell the project he wanted when a cheaper one would suffice.

Apparently Huether doesn’t know what the definition of due diligence is (or conflict of interest for that matter).

  6. From the Argus Leader:
“If I was given a mandate by the council, I would do everything I can, but I just don’t think its possible,” Greco said.

It sounds like Mr. Greco has his mind made up already he will do everything he can alright… everything he can to ensure any petition drive fails.

  7. Can we get a vote on this to repeal the mayors decision and take it to a vote.
