I still am trying to figure out how this trickles down on to citizens?

Q: What are you most proud of as mayor of Sioux Falls?

A: It is all about confidence whether it be a sporting event, running a business or nonprofit or running a city. One of the things I’m incredibly proud of in Sioux Falls is our confidence level is as high as it’s ever been and we don’t believe there’s anything we can’t tackle as a city. We are kicking tail and getting things done in government in Sioux Falls.

Maybe he ought to hand some of that high level of confidence over to the SFPD so they can ‘tackle’ our out of control drug and violent crime problem. Or maybe he needs to hand some of that confidence over to employers so they can start paying living wages so that our food banks don’t keep growing.

How would I have answered that question? I would have said “Our Citizens, I’m most proud of our citizens.” But as Mike recently said in a meeting with other city officials, “We didn’t need them (citizens) to weigh in. We got it handled.”

6 Thoughts on “Mayor’s Biggest Accomplishment? Spreading Confidence?

  1. We agree he has spread confidence.

We are confident he is screwing up the town to match his image, whatever it could be that day.

We are confident we will be experiencing economic pain for many years following his departure from office, paying off the accumulated credit card debt.

We are confident his family is personally benefiting from his policies, seen any good building projects lately?

We are confident the town is screwed by his policies.

We are confident we are screwed by his policies.

We agree he has spread confidence.

Mike never has made the transition from “corporate mentality” to mayor.

The test of how successful he has been as mayor will come if he seeks higher office.

    My prediction: giant fail.

  3. Confidence confidence did you say confidence.

There’s no confidence bonds can be paid and the city can escape bankruptcy.

I’m confident I voted against a pool but didn’t expect a 30 million Aquatics Center. I’m confident there’s no petition form so citizens can vote for or against arrogant Huether projects. I’m confident Denny Dome contracts were awarded before there was a vote or even a location. I’m confident the EC is an inferior design with poor materials and inflated cost. I’m confident a city council auditor would reveal the city is insolvent because of the Credit Card Mayor.
