The Interstate 229 (I-229) Corridor through the City of Sioux Falls carries commuters and tourism traffic, provides access to the ever expanding east side of this thriving community, and allows direct access to downtown. The I-229 Major Investment Study will allow the City of Sioux Falls, the Sioux Falls Metropolitan Planning Organization, the South Dakota Department of Transportation, adjacent landowners, and area users to help determine the vision of the corridor. The I-229 Corridor Study Team will be using technology on this project that will allow us to distribute traffic in a manner that better mimics how delays during peak hour periods change driver behavior on our arterial streets and on I-229. Please become engaged in helping the study team work through this complex and dynamic study to learn what I-229 will become over the next 20 to 40 years.

Unnecessary. The US 75 & 169 freeway is 80% complete. It’s built to interstate standards and will become I-290 between Sioux City and Minneapolis. Worthington should be worried about a bypass, not Sioux Falls.
The segment of IA/MN 75/60 that passes through Worthington is already done and upgraded – Just in case you’re wondering. Oh, and the entirety of the IA segment is complete, and all but 13 Miles of the MN segment (from Windom to Mountain lake) is complete. That’s about 99% Dan. Travel more. Learn more.
Thanx Rufus. I don’t travel that route often. My point is that Sioux Falls could become ‘not so growing’ when everyone discovers a better route between Omaha and Minneapolis. Sales tax shortage is evidence. There’s new development in Worthington. It’s midway and should become the next crossroads subject to similar Sioux Falls growth. Is it time to scale back from false Huether projections?
If our fast food workers must commute to Worthington, shouldn’t we subsidize their gas so they won’t move there? There’s income tax in Minnesota but no sales tax on food or clothing. Same difference. There’s less corruption and (Wow!) Democrats. I need the VA Hospital here but the Minneapolis VA is good with more special services. I’d live near MOA in MSP if I must leave this area after its demise.
