Is Governor Hoodwink treating the Copper Lounge Collapse like 9/11?

I’ve been told over the years that I am hard on developers in Sioux Falls, and not all of them are bad guys. Okay, I’ll take the bait. I believe it.
I will be honest with you though. I hate urban sprawl, I believe in rebuilding our core and bringing current infrastructure up to par. I am also a big proponent of property rights, especially residential and I think the FREE market should determine what development is necessary. I don’t believe in TIF’s and think if something is needed, it will succeed on its own in that FREE market.
Okay, back to the press conference. I think the ‘good guys’ in the development business in Sioux Falls should have a joint press conference to talk about integrity in development, hiring safe construction companies to do that work, and the future of Downtown Sioux Falls after the building collapse.
Some might say it is too soon to say something until OSHA and other investigations are closed. I don’t believe it is ever too soon to talk about transparency, integrity and safety in the development and construction business.
It’s obvious corners were cut, we already have previous evidence through multiple complaints.
I believe that this message should come from the private sector of development alone. I think if the city, state, attorney general or OSHA want to hold their own press conferences, that’s fine. I think it’s important that these ‘good guys’ in the development business come out on their own instead of being pressured by government and regulation.
Why is this important? I think it is important for responsible developers in this community to separate themselves from the irresponsible, and show that safety and integrity can exist with profits and progress in the free market.
Had a person ask me today if I had anything to do with the below google results through using ‘bots’. While I find it funny, I did not do this. The only thing I could think is that since this is one of the first toons I did of Mike over 7 years ago, that it has become a popular image in his searches.
If Mike is going to run for higher office, it is time for him to order that thicker skin. He is going to need it.
If our greatest mayor who ever lived is planning a future as our greatest guv’nor or congress critter, he better get his big boy pants on and show some respect.
The microphones were hot Tuesday night to match the temperaments during public input. Citizens show up to offer advice on current issues facing the city. Our elected leaders don’t always like it. Too Bad, So Sad. Sioux Falls City Council Public Input on December 20, 2016 was just one of those nights where the mayor didn’t get his loving and adoration he demands.
We’ll be showing the rest of the input in another video but this video shows his disdain for those who dare challenge him or his policies. Just remember, the mayor gives out Gold Tooth awards for those he really disdains.
Over the past several months (since early summer) I have been getting several political insiders telling me about a rumored plan by Huether to find a ‘place holder’ candidate for mayor.
In other words, he has been digging around to find someone to run for mayor, hopefully win, then after four years not run for a second term so Huether could run again. It’s possible in city politics to serve two terms (4 years) back to back and run again, but there must be a 4 year separation between the two terms, similar to what councilor Dr. Staggers did.
I haven’t really said much about it, because I was uncertain if he could find someone to do such a strange thing. Oh, and it is strange and quite egotistical. The place holder would obviously be someone with a lot of spare time, and not a lot of political ambition.
Ironically enough, the mayor may have found this person, and they fit the bill. I will hold back from saying who this may be, because they still haven’t announced yet, but if or when they do, guaranteed I will make sure the media pressures them about this rumored plan. This person does have political experience, but not exactly a stellar record when it comes to political ambition, more like serving politically to serve their own personal ambitions.
The mayor said this to Brian Allen on KSFY tonight,
“If I could run for mayor again, I would.”
So what if the plan succeeds, and the mayor either decides NOT to run for higher office or loses his bid? Could he go to work for said candidate as Chief of Staff or as a director with the city? He probably could.
What I find odd is why does the Mayor want to keep such short reins on city government, even if he leaves for four years? Is there certain things going on that a ‘place holder’ candidate may have to cover up for the mayor?
My first suggestion to the new mayor, no matter who they are (hopefully not a place holder) would be a forensic audit of the city, because if Huether has been up to any inside deals or corruption, I would want it out in the open before they take over the finances of the city.
This may be what the Mayor worries about the most.
