Once and awhile, my commenters point out some peculiar points, long time commenter Rufusx said this today;
lewis – I am not in the US currently, so I cannot watch or access ANY PART of the city’s web site(s). I inquired of them as to why, and they told me they block all access from outside the US. Nice, huh?
Not sure where Ruf is (maybe China?) but found it interesting that a city that likes to tell the rest of the US we are so cool and great wouldn’t allow it’s website be accessible by foreigners? Well, you know that foreign press, they can be pesky. MMM must still be mad he could not use his credit card in Germany.
It’s for network security purposes. Dang near all of the security intrusions come form out of the US. Blocking international access is a very affordable and useful security precaution for vulnerable network ports.
LJL, I kind of figured that. Gotta proteck Murica from teerarism!
Not hearing about Sioux Falls corruption, that’s a good thing.
Maybe the top notch IT expert Sue Q E forgot to switch on the international switch on CityLink, you know the one, right next to the thermostat the mayor controls.
The state’s sites are all accessible. Other city sites in SD are all accessible. I can read the AL, and other local papers from here. I can even watch my local small town HS basketball games streaming from here. I can do banking business from here. I can book flights and rent cars, and conduct all sorts of other business. I can access the chamber of SF Commerce site. I guess city of SF is the ONLY entity in the entire state (let alone governmental entity) that has “security problems” around foreign access/
It’s because Sioux Falls (per unconstitutional charter) is it’s own sovereign nation ruled by oligarchy. It’s only recent that city councilors were allowed to access this site. So help me Mayor. Amen.
If he were Muslim, he’d be Sultan. Maybe he’s Scientologist?
