Howdy Doody lays it down!
Funny how Mike only cares about transparency when it comes to him,
The council’s reasoning on the Parks Board ordinance is transparency, but Mayor Huether says, that’s what’s missing from their decision to donate the Ice and Rec Center.
“Where have been the work sessions on this and the meetings with the public or even the meetings with the executive branch of government,” questioned Huether.
But, of course once again, he stretches the truth. The Glory House idea was first raised this Summer by councilor Starr, then in October he told city directors he was serious about the matter, but they just ignored him. The mayor tries to claim no one tells him anything, ironically it is always things he is opposed to. See a trend?
I stopped counting the number of these I went to, always a good time!
I know, there hasn’t been many hints or clues that Brendan is interested in the position, but there have been two recent events that have us wondering. Last weekend Brendan’s father and SHS had a big fundraiser for the SDDP. Brendan also hosted a Clinton fundraiser during the presidential campaign.
There is also the fact that Noem is NOT running for the seat again and leaving it between Republican Dusty Johnson, a possible congressional run by Huether who is now a (Trump sympathizing) Independent. I have told people I believe if the Dems put up a strong candidate, early, they could pull it off. If Huether does decide to run for Congress, he will pull votes from Dusty leaving it a 3 way race where the Dems could pull it off, especially if Trump and Washington are in the toilet when November 2018 rolls around.
Also recently a former Tim Johnson Service Representative Staffer was appointed to the SDDP team;
Appointing Sharon Stroschein as ad hoc senior advisor to E Board (non-voting member)
An insider for Brendan? We will see.
The lawmaker, the troublemaker and the deal maker
It was a nice surprise to not only see councilors Neitzert and Stehly, but legislators Michael Clark and Greg Jamison were also in attendance talking to constituents today and the Coffee with Council event at HyVee. Jamison and I had a good conversation about repealing IM 22 (we didn’t solve much though) He thinks (mostly his caucus) we should repeal it ASAP, I told him that we should let the Supreme Court address it, and further more, Judge Barnett has already halted the law, so what’s the hurry for repeal until the SC weighs in? I also I have a problem with the legislature making it’s own rules when it comes to ethics.
