We have a few questions to ask, see how many you can answer.

If someone goes to building code enforcement and files a concern, why does no one follow-up?
Do building and code enforcement only show up to arrest someone for having a pile of shingles in the wrong spot?
What are building permits good for?
If you have a building permit, does it allow you to do what you want?
Why do we need this parking ramp so badly?
If a building falls down, are we allowed to ask why?
Should we care?
If there is a death, shouldn’t someone from the county/state investigate?
Isn’t it strange there has been no grand jury convened to find out why a tragedy happened?
What does a contract allow you to do?
Where were the engineered drawings and permits to allow a load bearing wall to be taken out?

The Copper lounge collapse in downtown Sioux Falls leaves the public with so many questions. Scott Ehrisman asked many during the Sioux Falls City Council Public Input on February 14, 2017.

When you are done with the video, write down your questions and maybe send a few of them to the Minnehaha County State Attorney. Maybe he can help us get answers.

  1. Thanks for this. Where’s other media follow up on Copper Lounge? Nothing but questions for the city. Nothing but silence from the council. Ask them why they operate a human incinerator and concentration camp. Would they wake or even react? Hardly

  2. With the cloud that is currently over Legacy, its investors, and its contractors, one does have to wonder why the media is not asking more questions about this parking ramp deal?

Did they build another Titanic without asking what happen to the first one? No! Did we send astronauts back into space without first learning about the “O” rings on the Space Shuttle? No! Then why build this new parking ramp with Legacy without first asking questions about Legacy, the recent building collapse, and its cohorts?

When landlords are wronged by tenants or vendors are victims of fraud by an alleged Christmas event at the Convention Center, then the hands come a knocking with micro phones in hand, but who in the media has challenged our current civic leaders about this deal or the current status of any further investigation into the building collapse?…… No one is the answer to that….(?)…….

We live in a time when a state scandal involving millions of dollars and a questionable death results in a mere $ 2000 fine.

We live in a time when another state scandal also involves millions of dollars and multiple deaths, but the indictments are limited to the associates of politicians and not any politicians themselves. In fact, the politicians do not even want to be interviewed about this scandal unless they can do it together…..Got to keep the facts straight…You know?

We also live in a time when a state legislature of peerage mentality and a flippant and self righteous attitude ignores the will of the people and repeals a recent initiative passed by the people concerning campaign finance reform and ethics reform…..

So why should we be surprised when it is business as usual when it comes to our City, Legacy, and Legacy’s cohorts?

Technically, I believe OSHA will not come out with its findings on the collapsed building until April. And our State’s Attorney said in December that he was waiting for its findings before he would act. But in a state, which often expounds the virtues of local control and state’s rights, shouldn’t we expect our county and state leaders to be proactive on this issue with or without the Feds help?….. Or maybe not, because we live in a state where the establishment apparently never suffers, but its subjects do often and some even die……

I hate to sound Trumpian, but let me just say we don’t have a problem with “Fake News” on this issue or issues, but we do have a problem with a lack of news or investigative reporting on these issues, which scream of many potential questions…. And I think in so doing, we have also identified a swamp or swamps, which need to be drained and drained soon I might add with the help of the local media and some conscientious local political leaders…..
