After he officially announces, he can no longer use CityLink to campaign. Thats means NO more ‘Ask the Mayor’ or ‘Shut Up and Listen sessions’ or press conferences for that matter. In fact, after his March 28th city address, Mike really can’t appear on CityLink anymore unless it is a regular city council meeting (and I would highly suggest the city council after picking new leadership in May that they start running those meetings and respectfully ask the mayor to sit in the audience and only participate if needed to break a tie, in which he would have to walk to the podium to do so.) It is against state law for the mayor or any elected official for that matter, to use tax payer funded media to campaign. I really think this is why Mike is dragging his feet as much as possible. He has been enjoying the press, that will soon end, and the REAL ‘HURT’ will start;

Another challenge, she says, is the criticism.

“When someone is in public service, they’re doing what they think is best for people. I don’t think people understand that sometimes. They say mean, hurtful things that they don’t always realize that we are people and that you still feel bad when people say these things. I think now, we see it worldwide with social media. People never have to face someone and tell them things. They always hide behind social media. That’s a real hard part. He takes it better than the rest of the family. That’s been hard. Through the years you realize that’s part of the deal,” Cindy said.

Stop picking on my Poo Bear! As I told a foot soldier last week, ‘If Mike thinks I’m hard on him, wait until he has the full force of the Online SD Republican hate machine breathing down his back and watching his every move as he runs for higher office. Also, don’t forget about all the Dems that supported him in the past that he took a crap on.

He will be begging Detroit Lewis to write a scathing article about snow gates or pot holes.

12 Thoughts on “Apparently KSFY has become Huether’s official ‘Higher Office’ campaign propaganda network

  1. The whole interveiw had me sick but was interesting is it seems when hes in a grocery store hes wife hates it cause he talks to citizens for 50 mins wow so citizens the only way to talk to the mayor is to catch him at a grocery store thats how huether runs the city as a business

  2. I support greg Jamison and greg jamison all the way for mayor 2018

  3. Some of us don’t “hide behind social media” to express our views. Notice how these high and mighty fail to understand our right to express our views on issues. Just because someone is elected (or married to an elected person) does not make them superior in our system.

    There are several of us who have tried since 2010 to talk directly to the pompous and arrogant elected that year. We have been pushed aside because their views are more important or righteous. We have tried to work with those in the system, some of us have helped pass measures in 2014, assisted a few to be elected in 2016 and now be rejected once again for our activism.

    To those who think by not taking our calls or even listen to us let’s see if their “plans” are safe, there are at least 6,400 people of Sioux Falls who do not forget the abandonment they experienced last year.

    We may not agree on all issues, when the candidates in last year’s election were running we told them we would never agree on all issues but as long as our communication system stayed intact we would work together. This is a premise of our political system.

    Run from us and at least 6,400 will not forget.

  4. Always whining about criticism yet he saw nothing wrong with complaining that City Council regulars steal away time he’ll never get back.

    Poor wifey. It’s hard to accept that your husband is a corrupt dictator. You should go play tennis at your tax payer funded club.

  6. OMG!!!
    So anyone running or even thinking about running for any office has to stay off camera? So the ding-a-ling engineer who says he’s running for mayor can’t have his ridiculous weekly rant during public input?

    Making him stay off camera during city business is just utterly stupid.

    Your thoughts are good example of why our politics is so f’ed up. Your just as misguided as Sean Hannity. We have constitutional rights. You can’t disregard law because you really don’t like someone.

    LJL, Settle down Beavis.

    He can still go in front of ANY private news organization and have as many press conferences as he wants. He can also be in front of city link cameras as long as he is conducting official city business, like a council meeting. BUT, citylink will not be able to broadcast press conferences he is in and he will no longer be able to do his two shows, as I mentioned.

    This is what he says about his state of the city address on Tuesday;

    “I truly look forward to educating the Council and the citizens on the areas of strength within Sioux Falls, but also won’t hesitate identifying challenges yet to conquer. I am always reaching higher, and I know I am not alone in this great city,” says Mayor Huether.

    Huh? What a line of deep, deep, deep, Bullshit.

  9. Maybe you should reread the shit you write.

    “In fact, after his March 28th city address, Mike really can’t appear on CityLink anymore unless it is a regular city council meeting (and I would highly suggest the city council after picking new leadership in May that they start running those meetings and respectfully ask the mayor to sit in the audience and only participate if needed to break a tie, in which he would have to walk to the podium to do so.) Just how will you be able to prove what is and is not “campaign” words? Simply said, your making her point about criticism on social media with your own words.

    Well if he had a thread of integrity, he would just steer away from it on his own accord. It’s not about watching what he says, he simply just needs to NOT put himself in the situation to begin with.

    Bruce,

    It seems from what you said that some of the council members you helped elect have now turned on you. Is this true? If so shame on them.

    AS someone that actually worked at KSFY and has a Bachelors in Journalism (almost a Masters) I promise you that KSFY is more than happy to do this for the Mayor.

    It isn’t that they will think this is an issue of ethics either. That kind of talk isn’t well received (especially with the morning news program staff).

    No KSFY thinks that the Mayor is a funny guy that brings viewers to the screen. And trust me, as long as he does and the bosses are happy, then he’ll stay there.

    Yes, the guys and gals running the production will laugh at his antics but that is about as much opposition as it goes.

    Lastly, Note: KSFY is no different than any other local news station in the country. With the hard work of getting people to watch at all, there is no time to contemplate ethics about some local politician. It isn’t deviousness, it’s just business.

    The Producers and others there do their best. Perfect, no. But they are pretty great human beings so I wouldn’t put too much complaint into it.

    Just Huether manipulating the system as always.
