Remember the argument the city unions gave to proactively pay them? They said the money had already been budgeted. In other words the approximately $150K was already sitting in the account.

As the mayor reported on B-N-B’s show this morning, a resource officer at a local school recently shrugged off the mayor and wouldn’t look at him. Gee, I wonder why?

So what happens with the money now? I asked a local reporter and several city councilors to ask the same question several weeks ago, and haven’t gotten an answer.

One of the councilors had the idea of using the extra money on some training programs within the Police Department.

Not sure where it is, but I am still waiting on an answer, because knowing this mayor and administration, it certainly didn’t go back into the reserves, it got distributed, but if not to the unions, then to who?

Wouldn’t it be something if the mayor made up the whole interaction with the SRO….wouldn’t it be something….stay tuned.

Redirecting public funds is done by the mayor. It’s amazing how Huether collusion goes unchecked and unrestricted. By comparison, the mayor of New Orleans is doing 10 years for misappropriating the same amount. The governor of Illinois got a prison sentence for selling a congress seat for a similar amount. This is but one city instance. There are others much worse. Where’s the attorney general?

It is not coming to the SFPD per many sources. There is budget cuts to all levels there. For goodness sakes at last weeks City Council meeting they had to beg for a drug dog that was in their original budget that got removed by City Hall. So much for MyManMike and his commitment to fight drugs in our community. Training for officers is reportedly not happening as much and essential equipment not being provided to multiple units. But on the bright side we do have a nice shiny 26,000,000 dollar city hall! The city should have to provide an itemized bill to where this money that was budgeted went.

Given the tough revenue environment it would make sense to me for the department heads to keep those dollars in their budgets as unspent wages and hope they can realize some overall budget savings at years end. The taxpayers would appreciate that! In other words…Don’t spend it!

  5. Given the amount of debt taken on by Huether’s administration it would be prudent to elect someone who truly has Sioux Falls long term financial interest at heart. Huether has hamstrung the next mayor with huge financial commitments and left little wiggle room when the next financial downturn inevitably occurs. Mr Huether spent like a drunken sailor on big ticket items, I mean really spent big. Millions and millions of dollars big. Then the turd wants to get some sort of street cred for controlling wages and pensions. It’s some sort of insane rolling over massive debt to low interest credit cards. Oh wait, he’s pretty well versed in that arena. Hope you enjoyed your time on the political stage because the working man has you in his sights as well as the fiscal conservative. You can run from your Democrat label, change your brand to Independent, but your politics speak loud and clear and from my little corner of the world you overplayed your hand.

I hear that pathological. I’d be curious which school he was visiting and when. I bet this could be debunked pretty easily. But if it is true, then good for the SRO!

Marsha, I highly doubt that money is going anywhere except to help fund a 26 million dollar city hall. “We have to live within our means.” I don’t know about you, Marsha, but living within my means when times are tough doesn’t mean buying a new house or new car Marsha. I don’t think he knows what that even means. And while I like and agree with Belfrage on a lot of things, Marsha, he is such an apologist to this mayor that it makes my skin crawl. Am I right Marsha?

Gee, MMM does that to me all the time.
