The Washington Times: Founded on May 17, 1982, by Unification Church leader Sun Myung Moon, the Times was owned by News World Communications, an international media conglomerate associated with the church until 2010, in which Moon and a group of former executives purchased the paper. It is currently owned by diversified conglomerate Operations Holdings, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the church
Thanks for the background information. Not sure what that has to do with picking up a story on AP. As a deist, I may not agree with Theresa’s religious beliefs, but I do appreciate her spirituality, because it is genuine and not hypocritical.
Not to take away from her accomplishments because she has many and seems like a great representative for the people of Sioux Falls but Washington Times is not exactly a source I would quote or tout. It is a fringe or off source. Washington Post, NYT or other more reputable sources yes and even the local newspaper. Aside from that I understand she is a devout Catholic but that has little to do with the Moonies.
Funny, because before I posted this I explained to Theresa that this wasn’t the ‘Washington Post’.
The Washington Post might not be the New York Times but it’s read in the nations capitol. It’s revolutionary that D.C. recognizes Sioux Falls city government is tyranny or cleptocracy if not anarchy. A government of one is inconsistent, fallible, and prone to error. When a narcissist is mayor, there’s a corrupt false hero and credit for the work of others. Give him unrestricted veto power and there’s all kinds of foolish projects while real issues such as crime, infrastructure, and affordable housing damage the population base. We need more national attention and Department of Justice intervention.
“Washington Post, NTY or other more reputable sources…” You mean like any source other than the WP or NYT?!?!?!?
Fluff what are your news sources? Brietbart? Inforwars with Alex Jones? Washinton Examiner or Times? The National Enquirer?
Religion is a symbolic value. Isn’t religion a liberty government must respect but not interfere with? Stehly’s religion makes no difference publically. Personally, I’d like to know if someone’s Scientologist. It’s a prejudice I must get over. Now, let me get back to dancing with snakes and speaking in tongues.
Just did a Google search of the story and it showed over 29,000 reposts to other AP newspaper websites. It’s not just the Washington Times. Many others are picking it up.
WP Reader, I take my sources from many locations and try to formulate an intelligent opinion based on the information. But I take it all with a huge grain of salt as I don’t think most papers or news companies do enough to research their stories and I am certainly clear on the fact that many news sources are owned by people pushing their political agenda, left and right.
