Sioux Falls, SD – August 27, 2017 “I am proud to officially announce my candidacy for Sioux Falls city council, representing the Central District. It is my belief that if we want our city to continue to prosper and grow like it has over the past decade, we need to invest our time and resources into creating more walkable neighborhoods, increasing density in our core, and improving our modes of public transportation. I am a believer in government transparency and giving all citizens a voice in city government. As a business owner, artist, and community advocate I have been involved with a variety of boards and organizations all with the aim of helping improve our city. I am currently a member of the city’s Visual Arts Commission, the All Saints Neighborhood Association, and DTSF’s Design & Development Committee. I was also an active participant in the creation of the city’s cultural plan, ‘Sioux Falls Imagined’, as well as Downtown Sioux Falls’ ‘Downtown 2025 Plan’. I have been a strong advocate for public art as well as contemporary urban design within the city of Sioux Falls. I am excited for the opportunity to continue the phenomenal work done by previous councils and look forward to working together to build a greater Sioux Falls.”

8 Thoughts on “Zach DeBoer Running for Sioux Falls City Council Central District

  1. Hopefully his ideas about how to improve life in the Central District are better than his idea of how to manage auto-bike-pedestrian traffic on the North Main Avenue Hill!!

The central district might have to accept someone with ethics and judgement. Someone who doesn’t always side with city plutocracy. Someone who doesn’t travel by broom. Anyone who becomes councilor for this district must be accepted, no matter how hard ignorant citizens look for but can’t find another Erpenbach.

  3. voter, I thought it was a great idea. Unfortunately the city didn’t do the striping themselves and put up better signage explaining how it works. I think the city traffic department needs to do everything they can to promote safe streets for bicyclists. We almost 200K people, I think it is time we embrace bikes as a form of transportation. Another thing that would help is making access to the bike trail easier from arterials and make it accessible 24/7 with more lighting, etc. I’ll support any candidate that works towards better transportation that doesn’t just involve cars.

Zach is going to be thrown into a pool of probably 5 candidates in the race. This one is going to be fun to watch.

  4. We have had a ‘rubber-stamp’ of a councilor in the Central District for the past 8 years……I will be looking for someone to represent me who can stand on their own 2 feet!!!!!!

  5. Zach will be on The Good Ship Lalley show after 4 PM today.

Rick Knobe was on KSOO at 1140 AM. I have tried several times to find Patrick Lalley’s program at this location and it’s not there. Has something changed?

  7. anon- yeah, I wonder how good of a job they did of promoting the change. KXRB and KSOO switched channels. KSOO is on 1000 AM now.

LOL. Never knew about the swap in frequency for the Townsquare Media properties! And I don’t feel like I’m missing anything.
