She will be discussing local government transparency/secrecy.

UPDATE: Theresa announced that her and councilor Starr are bringing a REPEAL forward January 2, 2018, to HALT the bond sale and other items related to the DT Parking ramp until the investigation of Aaron Hultgren and Legacy development plays out. She will need 6 votes to withstand a VETO.

  1. This gives the 6 councilors who voted ‘Yes’ the opportunity to untangle their names and reputations from the dubious deal they made on behalf of SF taxpayers with Aaron Hultgren, one of the 4 guarantors for Legacy Development.

BTW, Patrick Lalley has finally found the right job for himself.

  2. Excellent!

On an other note, may I use the ‘Hultgren acceptance’ to pay for up to $ 20,000 of my future City portions of my property tax bills?

    #ItWouldOnlyBeFair

Oh, and how can Hultgren be a credible “guarantee” for the hotel/ramp deal, if he needs “Meals on Wheels” when it comes to dump fines?

  3. I’m starting to think more and more the missing link here is Les Kinstad who sold Legacy to Norm Drake and now works for the city as the affordable housing manager. It just seems like Legacy, Drake and Hultgren have an insider at city hall, not sure if that is Les or someone else.

  4. I would like to see all of the current mayoral candidates, and Council candidates too, asked whether they would support a new city ordinance requiring full disclosure of all financial investments by elected City officials; and whether they would support an ordinance requiring the public disclosure of all investors, whoever they may be, that are involved in any private/public venture, like the current hotel/ramp proposal.

It is not enough to just wonder. We need to put in place political mechanism, which prevent future “Good Ol’ Boy” adventures or ventures.

  5. The HALT is the what should happen. 4 councilors are corrupt with the mayor. Four four with mayor veto. One must remember Sioux Falls is a crime syndicate. The best we can expect from them is a long line waiting for a sloppy joe on the 4th of July.

  6. if you listen to mike mumble thru is answers to the questions regarding this from his most recent infomercial on the belfrage show, he seemed to be very careful not to really say anything between his “ummms and ahhs.” not our usual full of himself overconfident mayor.
something is amiss here and i suspect before too long one of the rats is going to turn on the others.

  7. NOW THAT’S FUNNY “The best we can expect from them is a long line waiting for a sloppy joe on the 4th of July.”

  8. From the AL:

Building collapse investigation: Guarantors of $50M project couldn’t pay fine for illegal dumping

    From Legacy’s website:

Projects Currently Owned and Developed by Legacy Development 2014

We have over 100,000,000 of assets owned. Our typical investment features an 8% current pay preferred return with an 11%-15% IRR on the exit. Our last four full cycle deals have averaged over 20% IRR.

And, that was a mere $20,000 fine for illegal dumping they claimed they could not pay…….

    SIOUX FALLS TAXPAYERS

Is this who you want to do business with on a $50 million dollar parking ramp?
