PRESS RELEASE for IMMEDIATE RELEASE

In 2016 citizens organized an effort to hold the Sioux Falls administration accountable. We were asking questions. No one wanted to answer. To this day no one including the mayor of Sioux Falls Has adequately answered the most important question, “Why is this building so important?”

No one was or still willing to question the need for this building. So As the building is constructed we will be more involved in over seeing the process. We citizens Of Sioux Falls want a fiscally sound government, not a government operated on a high interest credit card.

In April of 2014 the Sioux Falls City Council was presented without notice a building plan. This plan was rejected several times by the City Council. The only person who insisted on this building was the mayor of Sioux Falls, Mike Huether. The Mayor set the stage for a final act of defiance toward the citizens by pushing this building onto our infrastructure budget.

We wish to thank five of the eight members of the City council who opposed this building. For the lack of one vote to override the veto, we could have had  a sane and clear meaning to this building.

As of now, we will have another dent in our credit without roads to drive on.

I’m still baffled how this guy got more votes then Michael Saba

After listening to Mr. Clark try to mumble through his interview with B-N-B, one wonders how such an unknown could have taken more votes then Saba. He doesn’t even understand that road monies that come from taxes on vehicles, registration and gas are for fixing roads. He suggests we should spend that money on fixing up private and abandoned railroad infrastructure. First off, not even lawfully possible and secondly the railroads are private. Besides the Federal easement of land, they are responsible for fixing their own tracks.

I still believe that the story Dana Ferguson did on Saba saying he was a Muslim using one source (from a Republican) really hurt him. Saba has said to me that he wasn’t offended to be called a Muslim, but it was a disservice to call him something he is not.

It’s going to be another thrilling legislative session.

A couple of weeks ago Brian Allen got all giddy about his ‘exclusive’ interview with the mayor about his future plans (in an empty room at the Old Courthouse). The mayor told him, what he has told everyone else; not ready to make an announcement yet. They also did a glowing interview about Huether Family Moth Ball center and his wife winning a national tennis award.

Today they decide that is was a news story that the mayor talked to a classroom of students (like he has dozens of times during his administration);

“He makes it sound like it’s changing the world then just being part of a government.”

Yeah, and after you are done taking advice from the mayor on making change in the world, pick up a copy of mein kampf, it also has some great ideas on changing the world.

UPDATE: New internal Auditor rolling in, not so fast

At the Audit Committee meeting, the new auditor, Kim Schroeder was to be confirmed. Her appointment was deferred to the next audit meeting (which I would assume would not be until February).

It was an interesting path to get here;

“The chair has made a concerted effort to improve communication throughout the process,” Neitzert said. “I was able to see how the process worked and I think Councilor Rolfing had heard that criticism and he’s tried to get messages out as the process moved along.”

While Bill O’Toole, human resources director for the city, wouldn’t say if Schroeder was among those who originally applied for the position, he said his office received 10 more applications during the second phase of the hiring search.

The ‘unofficial’ background noise is that an original pick for the job turned down the position, and since Kim had already applied they re-interviewed her for the position. There’s a lot of other ‘unofficial’ horse trading that went on, that I won’t get into, but I will say this, many of the councilors have expressed optimism with Schroeder and were very happy with the pick. A couple I have spoke to were surprised there was a sudden change in course, the council was not made aware of this deferral until a couple of minutes before the audit meeting by chair Rolfing.

Makes you wonder who was ‘changing the thermostat’ on this deal?
