Chad takes another ‘stab’ at muni-government, and fails again. First off Chad, they are called ‘councilors’ not ‘commissioners’. Commissioners work for the county. No need to feel bad about it though, on your Anti-Station, KELO AM, they call them commissioners to.

Chad is mad because Starr and Stehly don’t have their BIOS on the city website;

Closed-circuit to City Councilors Theresa Stehly and Pat Starr: why aren’t your biographies on the city website? I thought you were all about transparency? After all, you’re an official representative of the city – aren’t you?

Before I called both Pat and Theresa and ask them why, I assumed it is because the city just didn’t post them or problems with the website when it was upgraded.

Theresa was a little bit of both. Her BIO was originally posted, than after the upgrade it disappeared, so she was asked to re-submit. She told me she will get on it. But what is funny about that is that if you don’t know who Theresa ‘IS’ by now, I feel sorry for you if you have to go to the city website to figure it out.

Pat told me he has never submitted a BIO, but has been working on one. He basically told me, “It’s about self-promotion anyway? Right?” and that he will get around to it eventually.

Do the BIO’s matter? I think people elect these people based on the fact they DO know their backgrounds before they even vote for them.

Please Chad, go back to donuts and coffee talk.

  1. And if you believe that cockamammy story about the bios being “lost”…you’re even dumber than I thought.

  2. Oh, Chad, where do we begin. Let’s play some catchup. When the city website was upgraded for mobile devices, etc. TONS of information went missing. Remember the Admin building petition having the wrong form? The reason Bruce used the state oath is because the city oath wasn’t on the website anymore to download. The city also has been actively deleting files and videos from the city website and YouTube. Next dumb question.

  3. Just to set the record straight, my original story said “Councilors” not “Commissioners.” You know how digital editors are…think they know everything. I called him shortly after seeing what he had done.

  4. So answer me this 13wis…why is everyone else’s bio on the website except for Stehly and Starr? You don’t suppose the city did that on purpose for you? Must be some sort of conspiracy.

  5. digital editors? the ones at the corporate office out of state? or are there ones in sioux falls who know nothing of the city’s form of government?

  6. I appreciate Chad calling my biography to my attention. I thought it was up. It will be up today.
I have also put in a request to allow Council member Pat Starr and me to come on Chad’s show and share our feelings about public input and what happened at the City Council meeting last Tuesday. Chad has been fair to me in the past and I would appreciate the chance to tell both sides and answer his questions.

Speaking of representation and transparency, the citizens of Sioux Falls may contact me at 929-8783 or email me at tstehly@siouxfalls.org.

  7. Chad, read my post. Pat has never submitted anything and Theresa hasn’t ‘resubmitted’ after the website was upgraded(?) and that is why it is not up. You are right, their BIOS are not there, but like I said, that has little to do with transparency. I doubt people voted for them without researching their personal resumes.

  8. This brought back a fond memory of Chad getting drunk on air as sort of a live psa, and repeatedly asking Steve Huffman when he would take Hemmingson’s anchor job.

KELO was more fun before the radio and tv sides divorced.

  9. I quit listening to Chad a few years back when he implied that University of Sioux Falls did not measure up well against Augustana because its’ football complex was inferior- everyone knows that is how educational institutions should be compared (right?)

  10. 13wis, you’re obviously not getting the point (or purposely playing naive). The point of my article is you can’t have it both ways. If Stehly and Starr expect transparency, they need to play by the rules themselves. Everyone else got their bio in on time, why not them? You can’t preach one thing when the cameras are on and do just the opposite when no one is watching.

  11. And reliable voter, you’re right, those were the best of times. I miss those days.

  12. Okay, one last thought. Scott (aka very stable genius), my suggestion to you would be to lose the crazy friends (and I think you know who they are). Many a times I’ve agreed with what you’ve had to say. Unfortunately, your suggestions and comments often times get lost among all the “noise.” Your “friends” aren’t doing you any favors…because as we all know, “Perception is reality.”

  13. Chad, if you could point to me in the charter where it is required to have council members BIOs on the city website, shoot it over to me. As Pat said, what’s the point of self promotion? Or as Theresa said, if you want to know anything about her, give her a holler.

I don’t hang out with any of those people except Bruce. The only interaction I have with them is at the meetings. I will never tell individuals what to say at public input, they have 1st Amendment rights to say whatever they want to. The council should except it to. In fact I think many of the suggestions my ‘crazy friends’ have made resulted in improvements to our community.

  14. An in the interest of transparency, l3wis is me, Scott Ehrisman, publisher of this blog. Stable Genius is someone else.

  15. Scott, perhaps you can show me where it says public input needs to be broadcast on the city’s cable channel.

PS you may want to check with your well-placed sources because they’re wrong. Teresa has NEVER submitted a bio.

  16. I remember chad’s show re-named the Spencer, SD tornado clean-up “Janklowville”. Now his show is mostly about grown men eating candy.

  17. Chad. Have gone to the city website and read all the bio’s. They are not self promotion. They are self adulation. Somehow you think self adulation and transparency go hand in hand? I’ve payed close attention to what has been happening to this city government over the years. Transparency is an issue, self adulation is not.

  18. I’m surprised KSOO management supports Chad McKenzie weighing in on any blog regarding a controversial subject (public input) involving First Amendment rights.

  19. Commissioner Chad pays attention while most citizens know little about corruption at city hall. I liked the ‘drunk on air’ idea. Huether’s 8 years robbed us of our free speech and many individual rights. It’s hard to accept and being drunk helps.
