I’m going to take a ‘wait and see’ approach to Paul’s plan. Not because I have been light on him lately, but I’m not sure what it all entails. I will say though I have little confidence in Chief Burns and I would have replaced him, also I hope this doesn’t turn into putting away small time users (who really need treatment more than anything.)

Good Luck.

  1. There should be focus on drugs. It seems to be what drives other crime categories. I agree, Burns is just another police chief serving a short term until he can retire at full golden scale. He’ll hang out and hardly be a part of focusing on drugs.

  2. Shouldn’t we have had a narcotics crime unit all along?… Are we really that Mayberry?… (Better get the bullet out of your shirt pocket there, Barney….)

It’s too bad we don’t have a precinct plan in place, however, because then we could have a contest between the precincts to see who could catch the most “Kingpins.”
That would be fun and the winning precinct could get some type of “Leadership Team Award,” too….. And I can envision some type of slogan to go along with all of this, that says, “Say ‘Yes’ to precincts and say ‘No’ to ‘Kingpins.'”

  3. Scott,

I can imagine the theme song to this show right now with a squad car flying over the crest of 6th Street, heading east, in the Cathedral District, as the police vehicle rumbles down the cobblestones….

  4. More arrests, more Federal Funding. More lives are destroyed by people’s ego in pursuit of supposedly doing the right thing while under the banner of deflection. I wonder if Dexter was patting himself on the back when he crossed the line from Narcissist to Sociopath?

  5. Sounds like an innovative idea and they’re being very transparent about it. In the PD yearly report from last year most crime numbers were down. So remind us what your beef is with the PD managers? It appears that most people would think that they were doing a good job.

  6. For purposes of sentimentality, the internet and digital crimes unit will be known as the bunco division.

  7. SD vet, yes, petty crimes, but all drug related and violent crimes are way up.
