Sioux Falls School District announces naming committee
In a press release, Super Maher said, “We figured we would call on a group that not only is good at keeping secrets but has great historical knowledge when it comes to famous leaders.”

In one of the more humorous moments during the Q & A portion of the Sioux Falls City Council informational meeting about drainage issues in Sioux Falls, the city official stated that the best way to avoid water in your basement when building a new home was to go ‘slab on grade’. In other words ‘NO BASEMENT’. That’s why these guys have engineering degrees I suppose, to give out riveting solutions to difficult problems.
When I saw this cartoon first come out, I told Stehly to just ignore it, as I did for awhile, until I ran across it again today. I will try to decipher it’s horrible construction. First off, when it comes to editorial tooning, I don’t place much on it’s artistic value. If something is in the right place, it works. The artist does have a style, but I find no need to go after his/her draftsmanship, it’s his/her content that troubles me. Like a typical right-winger cartoonist he/she takes the words of the latest headline to pen their observations without actually researching the topic at hand. Like most of this chickensh*t ANON’s work, he/she misses the point. Can’t wait for them to make fun of me, it will be fun deconstructing that toon also.
UPDATE: Theresa actually asked the SFSD to have Bob Litz machine tabulate the votes to not have the appearance of manipulation by hand counting the votes themselves. We know how that went . . .
Isn’t hypocrisy a funny creature? While I agree that the Municipal League’s chief lobbyist and director should not have been banned due to her FREE speech, she seems to forget the little people;
Taylor’s lawsuit accuses Haugaard, who is a lawyer, of violating her First Amendment right to free speech and First Amendment retaliation.
This is the same person who has fought, HARD, for years to squash the FREE SPEECH rights of the very people who pay her wages, fund local government, and have a 1st amendment right to express their feelings about ANYTHING. But apparently her ‘OPINION’ rises above the rest of us. Hate to break you the news, but if you want those rights, you need to stop kicking the rest of us in the groin for having the same right.
How does it feel? Hope it hurts.
UPDATE: And in some weird twist of fate, they are using language from Cameraman Bruce’s suit against Huether in this 1st Amendment case.
The numbers just came out this afternoon, so I have yet to fully review them. But after a quick look I was surprised to see that a lot of the mid-management got around $7,000 raises. I guess what surprises me is that sales taxes only went up about 3.5% from the year before (still waiting on final numbers).
Funny how the building permit numbers and raises come out almost instantly after January 1st, but we are still waiting on sales tax returns.
One surprise that stuck out was the City Clerk’s raise of $7,446. When Tom Greco was hired after retiring from the military, he was put at the top of the pay scale immediately, even though he doesn’t have a city clerk certification. In fact, after promising to get that certification, he still doesn’t have it. I guess I don’t understand that large of a pay raise when he still has to receive certification after 3 years. Also, his two assistant city clerks actually have more tenure, experience and certifications than their boss, go figure.
Here are the past three years of salary records;
