As I said last week, I had no doubt this would pass, but I am baffled that a public official would brag about spending our taxdollars this way, especially after the county and school district just had opt-outs and we have a 38% reserve in the city, and we are planning to bond $30 million for a fire/police training center (that we selfishly won’t allow other communities and law enforcement entities help us with because we want ‘control’). Something is out of whack folks.

It’s called “wag the dog.” No answers for the railroad yard, the bunker ramp, or affordable housing, so let’s talk about spending money on the State Theatre and spread a little asphalt over some cement while we’re at it.

Say, on an other note, I think he’s our first “Mohawk Mayor:” FF: 00:09 …….#SoCool….And….#ItsFitting:

I can’t wait to help vote this guy out. I am a conservative who voted for him. I made a big mistake and should have known better. This town and its infrastructure looks worse than it has in years and this is what his priorities are. Voting by person not party next time! I wish Teresa would run.

We know a few rich people control everything. We’ll look the other way until there’s an election. For now, don’t remind us that you’re owned. How about a simple ‘No Comment’?

Some of you guys will hate on the mayor no matter who it is. I doubt there’s a mayor we’ve had since we adopted a strong mayor form of government that you guys haven’t found a major fault with.

As far as hating on mayors, well, I have never hated a Sioux Falls mayor, but I do hate what they often do.

What we have right now is a “Social Media Mayor.” But I am not sure how social media can solve the affordable housing crisis in this town, for instance.

The fact that our current mayor wants to get rid of the term or phrase, “affordable housing,” speaks to how he doesn’t want to solve the problem, rather he wants to change the political narrative of it by changing the name. A political leader who wants to do that, is a political leader who is more obsessed with image than substance and often isn’t that what social media is too?

Oh, and one more thing, what I don’t understand is how we have money for this, but not enough for the parks as park money is being redirected to roads?

Apparently, all roads lead to the State Theatre, huh?…

Hey, that would be a great name for a movie: “‘All Roads Lead to the State Theatre’….. Starring Mikey Huether as an ‘on-demand’ driver with Paul ThuneHaken as a welcoming doorman, Gary Boy Hansen as the pencil head theatre manager, and a cameo appearance by Davey Munson as the popcorn salesman…..”

  12. Mathew paulson you have no room to talk while you texting council members during council meetings lobbying on the tax payers money. Can you talk to council before the meeting and or text and not during the meeting? So let’s go with Theresa is plan put the cell phones awsy during council meetings .

Sierra – Scott freely admits he’s texted council members during the meeting. Theresa admitted she posts on Facebook during meetings. Are you going to attack them too?

  15. For your information I had this convo with Theresa stehly and she said that she is willing to put the phone down during council meetings she’s willing to compromise . Theresa wasnt using her phone to change votes she was reaching out to citizens and notifying them of what were there thoughts as it was coming up on the agenda. She wasnt lobbying there is a difference .and let me address something else if the mayor and anyother citizen thinks that putting high end people against Theresa to get her out of council isnt goona happen. Theresa will win next election by a landslide doesnt matter how much money is against her . I just wanted to throw that out there also.

  16. For your info I have talked to Theresa Stehly and she is willing to put her phone down during the council meetings. Theresa wasn’t lobbying.

Straight to the oppo research file for future political oponents.
The glee with which he transfers public money to a private effort must be considered when evaluating his bona fides as an ‘up and coming Repub star’?
Only among the denizens of chamber of commerce, crony-capitalism RINOs in this state can this guy be considered as a legit candidate for higher office on the Repub ticket.
