The below notice was sent to me by a foot soldier today who also sent me some interesting facts about the case against the ‘Living Man’.

• This is a Jury Trial for a misdemeanor in Circuit court. Seems like an incredible waste of tax dollars.

• The Police Sergeant who signed the arrest warrant, Sean Kooistra, is the brother of the city attorney, Stacy Kooistra.

• The defendant is representing himself ‘Pro Se’, which normally frustrates judges and attorneys because of unpredictability.

Food for thought.

I will not be wasting precious vacation time for a trial that, IMO, will end before it even gets started in a dismissal.

  1. Perhaps, this is what happens when you allow the “Dutch Mafia” to take over our local law enforcement/jurisprudence institutions, I am afraid.

But we have seen this before, haven’t we? No one should threaten anyone, but the trail of history involving this case reminds me of the time that Bruce had too many shingles in his yard, or the time that a local tv station tried to shut-up blogs by trying to do a number on them.

This subtle intimidation by local authority figures at times is both humorous and tragic. It speaks to how paper thin our democratic institutions truly are and why critics (without threats) are paramount to the survival of any true democracy.

  2. There’s a crime wave here that needs attention. Meanwhile, government goes after those that call them out. Instead of a trial, there should be dereliction of duty hearings for cry baby public employees. A court can’t be used as mothers apron for spoiled kids to hide behind.

  3. As a combat veteran, I’ve lost all respect for city government. Organized crime is more professional, ethical, and legal. I’d say give the Sanford group the rest of this kingdom so we can live here peacefully without harassment from narcissist insignificant city officials. We call you names because it’s all we have since losing our liberty via Home Rule Charter.

  4. A defendant can plead not guilty to a misdemeanor and get a jury trial. It is your legal right.
