Does this guy even understand how a representative government works? Well first you would have to show up to the office a few days a week.

While I agree with him using an app, or the city website to report potholes is a good idea, it doesn’t always work, especially with government. Sometimes the good old fashion way of calling or emailing an elected official gets results. Besides, isn’t that their job? Representing us and getting results? I can see PTH’s 2022 campaign, ‘Re-Elect TenHaken, there’s an app for that!”

6 Thoughts on “Mayor TenHaken tells peeps to stop contacting him and councilors about potholes

  1. I think he only worries about his hair.

In an other universe, he anchors for Dakota News.

So let me get this right. He doesn’t have time for PRIDE, but he does have time for the Year of the Rat, and he is taking his family, too?

What if you don’t have any apps and you are standing at the corner waiting for the bus? (What? You can get a bus without an App?) Can a guy still use his flip phone to report a pot hole?

How about Facebook? Can a guy report a pot hole directly to TJ without negativity and/or sarcasm?

If we do report a pot hole directly to the mayor, or a city council member, will we be put on a doxing list?

Oh, and also, will the larger pot holes, which usually have their own gift shops, have a kiosk to report pot holes?

( – and Woodstock adds: “Say what you want about Janklow, but at least he never took his name out of the phone book when he was governor”….)

  3. He forgot to conclude with “ok boomers”.

    LJL,

You and I don’t often agree, but I think above you hit it right on the head.

In this video, the mayor reminds me of the I.T. in an office center, who helps someone with computer problems, but he does it with a smile and a roll of the eyes.

He comes across as a know-all cocky brat in this video. He personifies a part of what I am getting at, when I obsess on the conformity of taupe-ism in our town.

If you don’t want people calling you, then why do they have access to your number? And if you are getting a lot of pot hole calls, then maybe that’s because that is the issue of the day, or our times. Image if LBJ said there were two many calls or letters about Vietnam, or Bush43 was complaining about Katrina calls and letters.

No one said he had to run for mayor. It is part of his job to take calls, and let’s not let him try to change what it means to be mayor either, just as he doesn’t want us to have weather sirens any more or tested, or a dependable bus without an App.

Once again I am so pissed I cast my vote for this guy. He is such a “look at me” guy its a huge turnoff. I do NOT understand this ME-CAST everyone does, its stupid. Sometimes I feel like I am 84 vs 44. Heck I even work in IT and have for years and I don’t get this video crap everyone is doing. The app or website is probably the best way to report these things as it probably makes it more effiecient so I am not debating that but, sell it better. Sometimes I think politicians are just plumb dumb, who always votes 40+crowd and the older the demographic the more likely they are ti vote. Your young crowd are usually not as well represented, SO you would think the older crowd is more apt to write a letter or call you, DUH. My parents are vibrant 67-year-olds and they are calling your ass not downloading a stupid app.

Look I know no one is perfect and maybe we are giving this guy too hard of a time but, your whole job is interact and do the work of the people. If your not down with that, by all means, go do something else. I get it, sometimes its hard to “people” all day.
