UPDATE: So why did the Sioux Falls School District have a boundary task force?

Surprise! Thanks for your input folks, but;

The new set of potential boundaries also comes more than a week after a 33-member task force convened to help provide recommendations to the school board had disbanded. The task force had asked for a third high school option, but one was not provided until after their meetings were completed.

This after Maher said at the first meeting, “We won’t be making decisions behind closed doors.” Wonder how those words taste? Probably like a school lunch.

Option A (This is the new map that appeared yesterday)
Option B (which I like more)

We should have gotten this warranty with the Events Center siding

How ironic reading this story today when I just mentioned to a city councilor yesterday, “If you think the roof repair is expensive for the Pavilion, wait until we have to replace the siding on the EC, it will cost at least $15 million.”

The black zinc panels that form the exterior of U.S. Bank Stadium leak more than previously revealed and must all be replaced at a cost of $21 million over the next two years. The costs will be split among the building’s general contractor, Golden Valley-based M.A. Mortenson Co., and seven others.

We should have never let them weasel out of fixing the siding, they should have fixed it when we had the opportunity. The difference though between the Denty and the Bank Stadium is we know someone pretty high up on the food chain signed off the crappy siding job to ‘save money’. I’ll give you one guess. Our savings will go straight out the door when we have to tear it all off and replace if(probably within 5-10 years). And we still don’t know if there is water damage underneath. And guess who will be paying for that fix? You and me kids.

Sioux Falls City Council Working Session, Budget Discussion, Feb 26, 2020

I just finished watching this. A couple of takeaways;

Councilors Kiley, Soehl and Erickson didn’t even bother to show up. Two are retired and one is self-employed. Maybe the golf courses opened early? The only two councilors in attendance that bothered to make proposals were Stehly and Brekke. The others mumbled about it. Also, the administration decided to up the due date for suggestions from the council. What?! The council should be controlling that deadline. I have told several of them that it is time to censure the mayor for violating charter and setting the budget and policy – IT IS YOUR JOB! The mayor cannot tell the council what to do with budget priorities. I’m telling you folks, Sioux Falls city government is a dictatorship and it is time to rid us of the home rule charter and return to a commission form of government.

Count Jensen’s endorsement list disappears from Facebook

While this endorsement list still is on ‘another’ blog, the post was deleted from Jensen’s and SF Politics Facebook pages. I’m not sure why. I wonder if some of the people listed got a little nervous? I wasn’t reading the comments, but I heard there was some negativity about the big wheels on the list. Here is the list. I don’t know all of the people that are listed, but the ones I do know are heavy hitters in the bankster and development community;

Sioux Falls City Councilor Stehly talks about beekeeping

Theresa was featured on SDPR;

The Northwest Beekeepers Association is hosting a 10-hour “Introduction to Beekeeping Weekend Workshop” in Sioux Falls this Saturday and Sunday. The workshop fulfills the education requirement of Sioux Falls’ new honey bee ordinance. A portion of the workshop focuses on beekeeping in an urban environment. Here to provide more information on the workshop and the new ordinance are Tim Olsen, president of the Northwest Iowa Beekeepers Association, Julie DeYoung, an animal control supervisor with the City of Sioux Falls, and Theresa Stehly, an elected member of the Sioux Falls City Council.Â
