I would have to agree with Mayor Selfie on several aspects of what he commented about Joe Biden’s TV ad about Mayor Pete;

This tone deaf ad reeks of elitism and mocks the expansive work we as mayors do to keep our cities running.

America’s biggest problems AND solutions live in our cities. To my fellow mayors out at 5Ks, ribbon cuttings, grocery store sidebars, and more today — keep grinding.

First of all, this is simply out of Donny T’s playbook, attacking Democrats (who are attacking Democrats) and attacking Joe Biden. But I kind of find it ironic, and more proof it is amateur hour over at city hall when PTH thinks his duties as mayor are to run road races and drink coffee at the HyVee deli. Yes, that is part of the job, but showing up once in awhile to do the job set out in the charter, managing the day to day operations of the city and it’s directors and employees, is the most important part. PTH has instead just signed an executive order to have a couple of overpaid lackeys do the job for him, and they are not very good at it (but get $10,000.00 a year raises). There have been many people asking me ‘Where is Paul?’ I cannot answer that question.

So while he wants to defend the ‘hardworking’ mayors of the country, maybe he needs to follow a few of them around sometime and find out what ‘real’ work is, you know, the kind that leaves a sweat stain in the rim of your trucker hat.

Also, in the video below, PTH addresses HIS supplemental appropriation ideas, towards the end of the video he stretches the truth a bit and says he worked with city council. As I understand it from talking to 4 of them, he only worked with two councilors behind closed doors and the rest were left in the dark. Selberg and Neitzert were mentioned as the two. It is the council’s job to appropriate surpluses, that means they get to decide where that money goes, NOT the mayor. He keeps confusing himself with a King.

14 Thoughts on “Small city mayors are hard workers, when they show up

Hiring 2 inexperienced parties to run government you were elected for is not only irregular but unethical and unforgivable. Mayor is more than 4th grade appearances. Where’s Waldo?

  2. Paul TenHaken of Sioux Falls is a homophobic, christianic Republican mayor of a small city in a red flyover state who wouldn’t even vote for Jesus Himself if He ran as a Democrat. Elitism in South Dakota is Denny Sanford and Dana Dykhouse and careers in usury get your names on public buildings and a football stadium. Former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg is a gay Democratic also-ran competing for a seat in President Amy Klobuchar’s Cabinet. More nuttery from the extreme white wing of the Republican Party is simply another way to own the libs. In South Dakota local control is Republican control. That any Democrats still live in my home state remains a mystery.

  3. PTH isnt any more Republican than he is Democrat.
He and so many other politicians across this nation have so many people fooled. They do not belong to either party and just use the two political parties to keep us citizens pitted against one another (and it works). These politicians serve One World Government elites.

Kurtz – How is PTH homophobic? Is it because he didn’t attend a Pride Parade????

    – Is the Mayor, according to the Charter, required to attend all Pride Parades, events, etc? I assume not, so he is free to go to any events he chooses
    – If he is a Christian and going to a Pride Parade to celebrate LTBQ lifestyle, could he, in his mind be violating or going against his religion??
    – If he doesn’t go he is a Bigot

Either way he is damned if he does or damned if he doesn’t. Just because you don’t agree with someone choices in life and celebrate it, does mean your are discriminatory against them. This is the flaw with some folks that if I don’t agree the person is somehow against you, its just false.

    – So unless you can show his policies, words, or actions are contrary to that, I would say it’s unfair to label him a such. So find me something that he has done or said to label him this. I can tell you I am NO PTH fan but, you gotta have some solid evidence to throw that stuff out.

It’s amazing how often racist, homophobic, islamaphobic, etc etc etc are used every time someone doesn’t agree with you or has a different view the words are starting to lose their meaning. Its an old card and its overplayed constantly. I can tell I don’t even bat an eye anymore when someone is “labeled” something anymore because its losing it’s meaning.

PTH uses Christine Erickson and others related to sports to make sure all issues are winner versus loser. Party politics has become a sporting event where there can be no compromise, no half wins for the people.

PTH is not very bright or inquisitive. He has learned to do what he is told, no more, no less. PTH only knows what people tell him to know. He will never be out in a group where he cannot have the protection of the close knit religious zealotry or group think of his advisors.

Erickson is sucked into the zeal of the winner take all mentality taking Neitzert, Kiley and others on the Council into her warped idea of changing our non-partisan, non-religious city government into a fake Pentecostal / Republican revival tent operation.

Spend time in the northwest Iowa of Rep. Steve King and see what this religiosity is doing to Sioux Falls and South Dakota. Now that I think about it, that Zeal operation thing (whatever it is) and the PTH’s secret PAC fundraising fits right into this mess, raising ungodly amounts of money to overwhelm and winner takes all of the system?

Thank you Dutch Mafia LLc for your help in writing this.

Stephen King should write a novel about Steve King, ThuneHaken, and the Dutch Mafia. He could entitle it: ‘Pothole Cemetery’

It’s the pathway to the presidency he’s defending. Why waste 6 years as a junior senator if you can run as mayor of a midwestern truckstop

  9. i noticed on the news that mayor selfie wasn’t wearing his wedding ring during pizza with the kids day.

“… midwestern truckstop?”…… But what about our Arcs, too? ……. Oh, and Buttigieg is like a ThuneHaken with some PRIDE and a Huether with more than a camera in a Subaru.

Have you noticed a similarity between mayor Selfie and Herr Trumpster? They both are obsessed with their hair. When will we be seeing mayor Selfie using spray tan?
