As a person who has helped get FOUR Sioux Falls city councilors and a Democrat elected to the legislature in a conservative district, I often shake my head when I see things like above. While I could certainly go on a very long rant about everything wrong with this mailing, I will only say one thing. If you are running against a popular incumbent, you never, ever attack them in your introductory mailing. I am incredibly baffled as to who is giving this poor soul campaign advice (well I do know who). FAIL!

We just walked into a bear market, but Alex! has decided to start promoting nothing, but bull.
However, those who understand timing win at politics. Those who don’t, have to bear the realities of what a shovel is sometimes used for, but don’t let him throw it your way.
HUM, now I have some regret of walking from the mailbox straight to my trash can and tossing his mailing in File 13 immediately (as I do with all kinds of mail of that sort). I should have read it now so see what kind of B.S. he is promoting. We all know Theresa is honest to a fault. Passionate for the people;s interests. AND, she will WIN!
This has Matt Paulson/Greg Neitzert/Christine Erickson written all over it!
But, it is ultimately the candidate, Alex Jensen, who gave the approval for it.
I do not want someone representing me on the City Council who thinks name-calling is what will move my community forward!
I do hope Teresa wins but, she only wins if those who have supported her show up and vote. I think folks are naive about how much bad pub Teresa has created for herself and many of it unnecessarily, call them unforced errors. I would not be surprised if she loses her reelection bid as her fatal flaw is overreacting to issues that are not issues. You don’t have to agree with how other people are perceiving her but, there is a large population of folks who see her as a Hypocrite, someone who cries wolf too often, and someone who drudges up controversy where this is none. I am going to vote for Teresa but, I think there is more folks who oppose her than most on this blog think. The Argus Leader has printed so many not so great articles about her, the Greg Belfrage show had her and Greg on the radio and they sparred openly, etc. I get she is ruffling feathers but, she needs to pick her battles sometimes and I fear she is going to lose.
This is just an example of MANY articles on this site that lambast her for some of her actions/comments. Keep in mind you DON’T have to agree or care what folks on this blog think but, it is telling by some of articles and comments of folks who are supporters of hers and detractors all have a similar feel to their comments.

CH, you actually make a very good point. You are still voting for Theresa because you know the alternative is much worst. I talk to a lot of people who feel the same way. While Theresa’s personality rubs them the wrong way, they know she will stand up to bad decisions and won’t be a rubber stamper. I think there will be a lot of people like yourself, who vote for Theresa while, holding their noses. But on the other hand I also believe Theresa’s true supporters, like myself, will show up and vote for her to, in droves. I’m not sure that Jensen has that kind of grassroots support. You have to remember Theresa won every precinct in the 2016 election except ONE where Ritch lives and the entire SE corner (where Paul won 2 years ago). She basically cleaned up in every district except the SE. I’m not to worried about her losing.
Lewis – I am worried about her losing. When she ran the first time she had a lot of positive pub for her activism but, now most of the headlines she has drummed up are negative and due to her own overreaction. I think people are over estimating many folks dislike for her. Maybe folks wont hold their nose and vote for her, maybe they dont show up. I dont know but, it could be an upset in the making and she is not as popular as she used to be. I will vote for her but, I will say if there was a good alternative I think I would vote the other way. The Jensen campaign just does not have a good feel to it as he has not said or done much and thats not the way to challenge an incumbent. I guess this is why they say “this is why you play the game” – We have to vote and have results to see what the true outcome is. Teresa does need to chill out focus on what she has done and not react to every pebble thrown her way because it makes her look petty. Like I said I have really done a 180 on her as of the last year. If she were not the incumbent she would get smoked
If older folks don’t get out to vote because of COVID-19 fears, then she’ll probably lose. It’s imperative for the older population to vote, vote when the lines are not as long, and absentee if possible.
Right now our focus is on keeping people safe and healthy. This is a time for working together for the common good. I am grateful we live in a very caring, responsive community and State.
The key to Theresa winning is held by the first sentence of post number 4. Theresa would easily win by a margin of 4 to 1 IF the 105,000 registered voters in SF were able to cast their vote along with their city water and sewer bill. But, most in this town are too busy figuring out how to put food on the table. Those in the jenson camp are busy figuring out whether the day they vote is the day they dine out at Minervas or the new hip place to dine, chickfila. Sadly, this election will have a 11 to 14% turnout, which means 6,000 can, and probably will win this thing. A lot depends on media coverage, how they spin it, and how much attention it gets.
