Well, I am not surprised, I knew Noem would find a way to bail out businesses instead of workers with the Covid money;

Gov. Kristi Noem will use nearly a third of the $1.25 billion in pandemic relief funds that South Dakota received this spring for a small business grant program.

Noem announced via her social media accounts Thursday afternoon that $400 million in CARES Act dollars allocated to South Dakota will be designated for small businesses that have suffered during the coronavirus pandemic.

Of course, we all know what a government ‘grant’ is, it is a handout, never to be paid back, and highly unlikely to trickle down to these business’ employees.

I suggested early on that this money go directly to individual South Dakotans so they could it invest back into our communities, whether that is paying bills or saving money for healthcare or for higher education, instead, she does what she does best, piss it down the legs of businesses that will hardly trickle that golden shower down onto the rest of us. I would really like to see how much of this money will be used to expand these businesses and hire more workers at living wages or a way for them to just pay off debt. I’m sure the legislature will conduct a study on it next year. Yeah right.

  1. Yep, teachers in this state are buying plexiglass and plastic out of their own pockets, while Palin II runs around the country helping a porn star’s former boyfriend (No, not Kanye) run for president, while doling out CARES Act monies to low wage employers back at the ranch, or the state, I should say. #Polyurethane #TransparencyInGov

    ( and Woodstock adds: “Now, I heard something about porn stars and doling out money”…. “What is this now?”… )

  2. I might also add, that she is willing to help businesses in SD because of COVID, but she doesn’t want to extend unemployment in SD for those who have lost their jobs due to COVID. She claims unemployment pays too well. What? I guess this is exhibit B to wage collusion in the state with Federal Reserve Banker Neil Kashkari’s August 2017 comments before the SF DWTN Rotary Club being exhibit A.

    Kashkari, if you don’t recall, told SF businessman to stop complaining that there aren’t enough workers, and instead start raising wages to attract workers. I guess Kashkari knew who he was talking too, huh?

    And, who was a past president of the SF DWTN Rotary Club? Well, none other than a former “Democratic” nominee for LG. #JustSayIn

  3. I can’t understand turning down a federal handout. Will Noem not run for a second term and announce she’s running for President. After Trump, the elephant in the room will need a beauty queen candidate. Are her recent national commercials publicly funded campaign?

  4. No money for teachers, kids, or the people of SD but Kristi did have money to run an ad at the very beginning of the 3rd hour of the replay of the Tour de France Sunday 1:02AM. I would guess even at that hour advertising time on NBC Sports ch. is not cheap. Her ad had Mt. Rushmore and of course her saying SD, Great Faces Great Places.
