Soehl didn’t even bother to show up tonight and got elected Chair (he was vice-chair). While Jensen hasn’t even been there a year, he got elected vice-chair, even though Brekke or Starr deserved the position. This was obviously political and partisan. Brekke and Starr tend to question the other councilors and administration and probably the reason they were not nominated. I don’t think Starr was interested but I think Brekke did want to be vice-chair. Further proof in this town and city government it is who you know, not what you know. Erickson got elected to operations committee even though she is done in about a year. Probably one of the most pathetic council chair elections I have ever seen, but certainly not shocking.

Big things happening on East Bank. Hundreds of millions expanding Cherapa. Lots of TIF. Supposedly commercial on ground with residential above. Council will be busy for this but the usual rubber stamp process. If there’s a plan, I’m hoping it’s a good one. Brekke and Starr are important. Others can be replaced with term limits and voting other than incumbent. Brekke for mayor?
It’s important for First Premier to be in charge, but not too obvious either.
Lots of action in Northwest Sioux Falls. City has been busy posting hearing signs at back of properties behind hay bales. There’s gonna be growth. What upsets me is city planning sneaking around. Government should be honest, not devious. In one case plat shows small shops but it’s obvious it’s gonna be a Casey’s with bright lights (no light poles or canopy shown), car wash (shown but not identified), and buried fuel tanks (shown as pond). Come on, 80 parking spaces not required for a pizza takeout. I’d like to respect the city if they’d be open and honest.
What a nausea inducing show of sucking up and rubbing each other’s backs by this RS6. They definitely look out for one another.
They ALL need voted out and replaced with people who actually give a damn about the citizens of the city rather than their own personal agendas.
