While the premise of Mayor Poops youth council is actually a great idea, I do find it wreaks of hypocrisy;

“One key group we are missing to help solve these issues is yours, and we need you to be part of the Mayor’s Youth Council. Youth voices matter in Sioux Falls because you are our future. I want to hear from you on important issues that affect our community,” said Mayor Paul TenHaken.

What is really missing is Paul interacting with VOTING ADULTS in this community. Almost every policy he has pushed forward has been organized behind closed doors, like Med MJ. How about an Adult Council to go along with the Youth Council? Better yet, bring them both together to discuss issues. That would be a true shot of reality for these kids and the adults.

It’s easy to have open meetings with youth, because they really have NO say in our elections and Paul doesn’t have to do squat with their ideas. This is all smoke and mirrors to hide his true obsession, being Sioux Falls’ #1 Youth Pastor.

Like I said, this is a great way to interact with the youth of our city, but Paul should probably do a dry run with the big kids before trying to brainwash the youth of this city.

  1. will we have any candidates to challenge the youth pastor? will we have any candidates for an adult council?

  2. Mayor Poops is trying to run the town as if we were in Northwest Iowa where the church councils run everything. All local activities are youth based to indoctrinate the young so they can go into the future blindly following the mission of their church. They learn to only talk doctrine. The churches control the physical activities so the youth do not stray into immoral anti-Germanic or anti-Dutch Reform Calvinism.

    When Mayor Poops ran in 2018, he bragged about the Dutch Mafia taking over and the way he is running around, Mayor Poops is accomplishing it.

    Mayor Poops will damn you to hell if you challenge their plan. You have to understand, all through history megalomaniacs have learned, if shape the minds of the youth they will become unquestioning followers. Read a bit of Orwell and realized what is happening here. Piggy time?

  3. end of day, south dakota still a conservative born state. under god the people rule, and we so be free, when we keep conservatives in power.

  4. Right to transparency laws; None
    Right to decriminalize MJ; None
    Worker Rights; None
    Reproductive Rights; None
    Gun safety laws; None

    You are correct, if you are in the ruling class of the authoritarian conservatives in SD you have the FREEDOM to push your ideas on the Majority. That’s called Fascism not FREEDOM.

  5. I have a new neighbor who moved here following retirement because they thought their home state of Nevada was too regulated. They heard about all the freedom to enjoy here. The house they purchased appeared well maintained, but they wanted to make a few updates They were surprised to find that neither the electric or plumbing was even close to being up to code. Outdated due to lack of updating, but fixing the do-it-yourselfing of the former owners has now cost them thousands. They said the profit from the sale of their former house due to the hot housing market in Nevada – that they thought they would be able to use to furnish the place – is now gone. Sometimes it a lack of laws that costs. BTW, SD is a reliable top 5 in most dangerous states for workplace injuries and deaths.

  6. What about judge shopping with IM22? The judge in that case was a former Republican AG and gubernatorial candidate. Why didn’t the lead plaintiff in that case file the case in Sioux Falls – and not Mitchell – where they resided?

  7. Oh, and anyone who has ever been educated in civil procedure quickly learns that a plaintiff can pick their venue – assuming the court picked has jurisdiction over the legal question at hand – Oh, how convenient.

  8. I just came up with a brilliant campaign slogan for the Mayor in ’22: “Mayor Poops: He knows what to do.” What do you all think? His daughter could voice it, too.
