You would think normal public officials would be putting out videos about road improvements and cleaning up neighborhoods, nope, they like to brag about TIFs and giving tax rebates to wealthy developers to build parking ramps and condos.

  1. Is the arc on the river theistic or supernatural? The St. Louis arch is known to affect weather and conduct electricity. The arc of the covenant supposedly has peculiar power. Is this a Templar thing? Will there be a coven convention here? There’s a significance. Must we start building pyramids for dictator mayors and billionaire developers? If you speak at public comment will you be strung between the tips awaiting a lightning strike?

  2. The air of hubris and self-congratulations from this video clip will only be surpassed by the vanity stop-offs which are to be contructed along the sidewalks on the new bridge (referenced by Cotter) to recognize those who have made of this possible.

I’ll nominate a name for this sidewalk pantheon of fame – The Walkway of VUOPM (“Vision”* Using Other People’s Money).

    * I am hoping that the commenters to this blog who are authorities on proper use and application of quotation marks will view this instance as “air quotes” and therefore to connote sarcasm.

  3. I guess the only thing to be determined is, will Jeff Scherschligt and Craig Lloyd leap frog over Mike Huether as initial inductees into The Walk of VUOPM?

  4. When they put panhandlers on these videos and interview them, that’s when I’ll start watching them. #28RoundsOnMinnesotaAvenue

  5. All the more reason to bring your dogs to downtown events. The memorialized sidewalks might be a handy place for them at times. #HeresAGoodSpotRover

  6. Nothing I love more than “sarcasm”. I’ve gone through many women in my life time due to “sarcasm”. They just never got it, or was it me?

  7. Love the energy and enthusiasm that the city team brings! Those that are forward-looking will see the short and long-term benefit to our city. As for the others…keep reading..

  8. what they need to do is bore a tunnel thru the 6th street hill so people can get to the food giveaways at the fairgrounds easy.

  9. This tunnel idea fascinates me. Could it open up like the stairs on The Munsters? AND, I’ve always wanted to ride a dumpster down the 6th Street cobblestone at 2 in the morning to see what would happen. Russian roulette at 6th and Minnesota, If you know what I mean. This tunnel could also serve as the garage for on-demand buses. Maybe room for Emmett’s yellow trikes, too. What about the pedal pubs? Can they do hills? It would be a good place to hide for the next three tornadoes as well. What if we accidentally dug into the quarry? Would it become the newest parking lot? What about a ‘The Great Escape’ vibe? Maybe some disco lights, too. It could be the new underground, where drab replaces taupe and white sole shoes lose their vibrance. AND, after all of this, a Silverstar would definitely make sense. Don’t forget to tip. #AndADispensaryToo?
