I’m trying to figure out why we didn’t do something about the last study?
“We were getting ready to launch a market study to look at what’s the right sizing and scaling,” said Shawn Pritchett, director of finance for the city of Sioux Falls.
“Unfortunately with COVID, the market disappeared entirely, and there was nothing left to study.”
True. But why not just pick up where the committee left off? Why, once again, reinvent the wheel?
“You have to have the right type of expertise and professional experience to give truly meaningful outside perspective,” he said.
So are you saying the 1st committee didn’t have that? Not sure how a bunch of bankers and doctors are going to be much different?
When you look back on the first term of the administration, it’s hard to figure out what was accomplished accept a bunch of studies thrown in the garbage and a revolving door of directors at city hall. How do these people get elected and re-elected. Baffling.
Thanks for reminding me, I need to dust the shelves in my study. #DyslexiaSucks
TenHaken inherited a mess. There’s really no way to justify Huether’s Follies. Dog ate the homework and fired director methods are the best way to hide the unnecessary criminal extravagance. Learn to accept the failure. Visit the Denty but drink lots of water before you get there. This boondoggle cost more than a new water plant and sewage treatment. Piss on it.
I once read a study about a study, but afterwards I had so many questions that I then conducted my own study. I also did all of this in my own study with the help of an understudy.
The study of methodology is the study of studies, which will lead you into an eternity of study where only a hopeful time warp can possibly take you into another universe of greater sanity and understanding. Study that one for a while…. Won’t you?
“Say, isn’t it about time for another affordable housing study in this town?”…. “I mean, accessible housing”….
JEckhoff on The Birdcage:
““With the new ownership and investments they’re making, certainly they’ve improved the field and facilities,” said Jeff Eckhoff, the city’s director of planning and development services. “Whether that goes to another level and they’re able to get a stadium at another location is all up in the air yet.”
JEckhoff needs to get straight his Chamberspeak (TM) cliches.
Building a new stadium at a different location is “going in a different direction”, not “taking it to another level”.
Dribbling out citation of portions of the report from the 2019 study group, it seems the chairman of the newly formed committee already has lots of the answers.
… just need a new Leadership Team to rubber stamp some of the selected elements.
Hand-picked committees come with pre-determined results.
