It’s about those pesky communists;

“South Dakota will have no part in the intelligence gathering operations of nations who hate us,” Noem said in a statement. “The Chinese Communist Party uses information that it gathers on TikTok to manipulate the American people, and they gather data off the devices that access the platform.”

Of course, our mayor is still on his ‘save the kids’ campaign he must be carrying over from the anti-IM 27 campaign;

“This app needs more federal scrutiny to ensure our kids (and national security) are protected,” TenHaken wrote on social media.

Okay, why stop there?

• Why not BAN state government from purchasing any products made in China?

• Why not BAN any 5G antenna equipment from China?

• Why not BAN farmland or any property owned by Chinese investors? Or businesses (Like Smithfields)

This is more huff and puff and smoke blowing from the biggest offenders. Hypocrisy at it’s best. Now let’s go fight homeless cannabis use, the real problem ravaging our state ;(

  1. Maybe it’s time to fire up the EB-5 program once again, huh? I know Republicans have enjoyed it in the past….. AND, don’t forget, the Mayor seldom wears a tie… primarily just for Denny or the Chinese.

    ( and Woodstock adds: “So, let me get this right, the Gov doesn’t care if you wear a mask or not even though such derelict of duty could kill your state co-worker with covid, and she doesn’t want her state workers watching TikTok, which doesn’t kill anyone, well, except maybe with laughter”… #WhatAJoke )

  2. Other Chinese impact (political and trade) needs attention first. China has big problems with protests. There’s intent to remove President Xi. There’s Chinese military showboat power around Taiwan (a US interest). They want it back. North Korea and Putin (Ukraine) have Chinese support. Nuclear and weapons come from China. Another world war could happen if everything erupts.

    It seems to me the Governor and Congressmen should focus on the big picture and not Tik Tok or pot.

  3. Noem’s mom’s Tik Tok dance was rather taxing to watch… Maybe to prevent it from happening again, it should be one of the “new things to tax”…

  4. They claim that apps like TikTok gather my data, but that would suggest that I have friends…. So, tell me more…. Plus, I would be honored if the Chinese wanted my data… Maybe AAA Collections could tell us more….

  5. I’ve been creating fake data to throw the Chinese off for years. It’s like when I keep looking at the same items on Amazon with no intentions of ever buying, so that I can throw-off Amazon’s prepositioning strategy which is dictated by their inventory’s relocation position placing software that is controlled by web traffic and assumed interests. This type of faking worked in Operation Overlord and it will work again against these contemporary evil doers as well.

  6. Are there still any American Furbys reporting back from China? Or, have they all died-out like some once good space probes?

  7. What about the listening post at Smithfield in the executive office area? Or, is it near the ham bone area, or the Robert LeRoy Anderson Memorial breakroom? Well, anyway, I heard they then beam that stuff to the Chinese Consulate in Chicago. #ChristmasHams #Porkys

  8. I guess my question – Why should there be ANY social media apps on State owned/issued PC’s/Phones for anyone who isn’t directly responsible for Social Media Engagement?
    Not just Tik Tok, but Facebook, Twitter, Truth Social, Mastodon, Discord…
    What is the use case for these on state owned devices? If someone can make the use case why they need it to do their job, then sure….install it, but otherwise don’t.
    If you want to watch Tik Tok, use your personal phone or device.

  9. “Perhaps, Tourism likes to use TikTok…. I could imagine dancing bison being a big hit….”
