This is one of the funniest skits I have seen on SNL in a long time. I have often said there needs to be more comedy routines about our lack of embracing the metric system.

  1. Denver doesn’t want to be known as the “1.609344 Kilometers High City”, does it?

The Magic Mile sounds so much better than the Magic Kilometer.

And, what about Frost? Would we still care to know him if he had “kilometers to go” before he slept?

Also, we have pounds while the British have merely stones. No wonder we won.

If you pound someone, however, does your weight matter? Or, is that too weighty of a matter to pound your head with, but what about someone else’s?

And, if you have a barrel of fun, are you talking gallons or monkeys? OPEC, Texans, and even North Dakotans love barrels, but most of us are luckly if we can even afford a gallon or two.

  2. The world wants our Dollars, but not our measuring system. Isn’t it odd that we measure up to them?

I prefer a cup, a pint, a quart, a gallon, and a barrel. It may all resemble a Russian nesting doll, but it still isn’t as commie as a system that merely values your worth by moving a decimal.

We measure our swimming and track in metrics, because those were once the only events at the International Olympics, and we had to conform then, but since then, we have come a long ways since the days of ‘Chariots of Fire’. The Romans had their chariots and the cave man gave us fire, but only we have given the world the weight of our existence and the measurement of time, which we call our history: A history always written by the victors, who measure-up like us, for we are now the ones with the real chariots. #WhyTheWorldHatesUs ……:

  3. “Wait a minute…. That guy who recorded the ‘Chariots of Fire’ theme song”…. “Is that Post Malone before his tattoos?”….

  4. Many men are happy with 6, but now you are going to tell them that they need 15.24 centimeters?

  5. Last time I watched SNL was when it was actually funny – the days of Belushi, Chase, Radner, Curtain, Murray et al. Yes, I’m old (and stay off my lawn).

Much like other comedic avenues that were entertaining, IMO, SNL was taken over and ruined by those with mental deficiencies that hold a high value of their own self-importance.

  6. Thanks Scott. I believe it was Steve who first enlightened us about that. 😉

AND yes, the Belushi, Chase, and Murray days were definitely magical times. But nothing lasts forever. So, it’s good to see a patient in ICU show signs of hope from time to time, however.
