  1. No newspaper and the local TV media obsesses on food trucks and boutiques. It’s the perfect town for the corporatists amongst us. It’s hard to have transparency if there’s no 4th estate.

There are not enough affordable homes in this town, but yet, we have a $20 million dollar bridge to the Land of Cherapa.

Food deserts in our town are being answered with grocery trucks as if an ice cream truck is the real answer to a long hot day or spell.

The “Glass Box Boys” are now beginning to overshadow our famed cascade, while what media that is left in this town reports with excitement about the new condos going up near the cascade concerning their views; views which many of us will never see except for that report.

Even the state prison is being moved out of town. It now longer fits our image. Harrisburg is the new Sing Sing. While the old prison will probably be converted to condos for a few….. Wow!…. What a view!…. Thanks for the report!

I no longer know my town, but I feel as though there is no way to report that anymore… So, I guess I’ll just go off to explore the grocery truck in my neighborhood, because I can hear their inviting music off in the distance like as if it was an old fashion ice cream truck from the days of my childhood…. Because it’s finally coming my way, even if it’s not going my way, anymore….

  2. “I feel sorry for Harrisburg”…. “Soon they will be sandwiched in between a state prison to the south of them, that houses the bad boys, while to the north of them, they will still have Taupeville, where some bad boys live and should be imprisoned, if you ask me”…. #PrisonHariBourgeoisSud

  3. It’s all turned to mush since the Shoppers News closed up. The Argus isn’t worth what they charge since it’s mostly second day news. The local TV stations sensationalize just about every story to try and make the news watch worthy. At least we can get current and accurate news from Scott, Joe and Trevor.

  4. Will someone please face the truth? A food truck because grocery stores will not locate in high crime neighborhoods. Soon, a bloodmobile before the truck so people have money for food.

The bridge to Cherapa is affordable housing. The city is kind enough to build you a bridge to live under.

There’s no saving the newspaper. It’s not a viable business plan most everywhere. It can’t survive from obituaries and crossword only. Authoritarian government corruption goes unreported. However, where can political deception be imposed? There’s no freedom of the press when there’s no press.

  5. I’ve been brainstorming some new economic development slogans for Harrisburg. You know, like “Let’s Go Brandon”, “Why Not Minot”, and “Forward Sioux Falls, and I think I’ve come up with the perfect one for them: “Prison. We’re on it!” I think it’s much better than: Harrisburg: South Dakota’s Sing Sing.

Also, is it fair to say that the new Veterans Highway piece, which will curve around and protect Taupeville’s rear flank, was purposively built to protect Taupeville, or to be a potentially adequate buffer for them, from the new state slammer? I believe so, because in situations like that, it’s always important to protect your rear flank. #NoCampingAtThatWalmart #GlampingOnly

  6. Steve, thank you, I know I am not polished, but when the REAL journalists in SF need some background, you know who they call, and that makes me smile.

  7. do what’s left of the argus reporters work from home? if you drive by there during business hours, the parking lot is empty. and what stories they do publish come from dakota newswatch.

  8. A former Argus employee who went on their own told me that the problem with the Paper was how corporate was totally beholden to a certain demographic & worldview and if you didn’t toe the line in how you reported and what stories caught your attention, the higher ups would punt you like you had the plague. Talent, experience, competence and empathy to all sides were all ignored in favor of creating the ideal “in their view” newsroom. Tough sledding to try to sell papers and try to switch the electoral tendencies at the same time.

  9. But but but without the Argus I’ll never know who has the best burgers in town!
