There has been a lot of talk on the Left and the Right about ‘Evil’ politicians. Both sides throw it around like a hot potato because it instills this belief that a person’s actions in the name of evil is somehow something deep inside their souls that they cannot control, ‘They were born evil’.

Are some politicians evil? Sure. But not by the religious definition.

Plato and Socrates agree, that evil doesn’t stem from dark shadows or religious dark spirits but from the choices we make, or don’t make.

Plato asserted that it is the innate laziness, ignorance and lack of attention to pursuing good that, in the beginning, leads humans to fall into “the first lie, of the soul” that then often leads to self-indulgence and evil.

Socrates said that the only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. The unexamined life is not worth living. There is only one good, knowledge, and one evil, ignorance. Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

While I wouldn’t call any of our local elected officials ‘Evil’ because it just sounds like some foolish Old Testament babble some MAGAt would fart out, but within in the confines of the great philosopher’s opines, I would say they are participating in evil (corrupt) acts due to their lack of empathy and ignorance.

So just remember the next time you see a politician do something ‘evil’ it’s not the dark lord forcing the hand, it is mostly likely money.

7 Thoughts on “Ignorance is the root of all Evil

The only evil found amongst the Left are from commies, but I’m not a commie, are you a commie, Scott? I don’t think so, but on the Right evil is found within the mix of its norm. They even live at times in three bedroom homes, with a dog, and a picket fence, a spouse and two kids, and probably a SUV (Black) in the garage. The difference between the evil of the Left and the evil of the Right is a question of distance. The Left’s evil is far off, but the Right’s evil could be next door.

  2. Evil Knievel was a part of one of the most bizarre, evil, and tragic days in American history. The date was September 8,1974. What happened that day, you ask? Well, tragically Dr. King’s Mother was killed by a gunman who entered the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta and killed and injured congregants. It was also the same day that the White House announced that President Ford had pardoned former president Nixon, and it was also the day that Knievel failed in his attempt to jump Snake River Canyon (Idaho) with a motorcycle/rocket…. Just imagine if we had CNN or FoxNews back then, and how they would have covered it all….

( and Woodstock adds: “I wonder if they make E-Motorcycle/Rockets?”…. “Then maybe they could be allowed to shoot across the Falls to a new spur on the bike trail, huh?”…. 😉 )

  3. Funny you say this, I’m waiting for E-Bike races as a sanctioned sport.

What about E-Bike races at Sturgis? That might be a good idea. Personally, I would like to do a burn-out with an E-Bike in Sturgis, that would probably attract a lot of babes, if you know what I mean.

I’ve never understood burn-outs. They appear to me to be quite boring, and those who participate never look like they have enough money to replace their blown-out tires.

I’ve never understood tractor pull contests either. I believe they were invented by a bunch of drunk farmers back in the 1940s who happened to have a welder. AND, most likely they are the same ones who later came up with the burn-out idea.

In fact, sometimes I find it utterly amazing that we ever put a man on the Moon or won the Cold War.
