  1. They should set-up a mock city council which begins to legislate things, the real city council is unwilling to do, with the help of a billionaire philanthropist. They could build daycare centers for all, establish an elaborate transit system which penetrates Taupeville, and build a hermetically sealed building and showcase for the Delbridge collection…. OH, and what about a vocational training and substance abuse center for the homeless and perhaps a museum which depicts the history of TIFs and Jim Crowe, which were both once found in the city of Sioux Falls…. In essence, they could be a like a shadow government, and frankly how different would it be then what Denny is doing to this town as we speak?

  2. “Wow, I definitely like the idea of a rogue transition system”….. “It’s about time we had a transit system that facilitated the folks of the Whittier area, for instance, who might want to check-out Limitless or Orange Theory”….. #LastTrainToTaupeville

  3. When there’s so much need it’s evident city government has done a poor job maintaining and preserving communities. The ‘Community Land Trust’ concept may work pressuring city hall for improved services. A 3/4 billion annual budget funds underutilized entertainment construction, an empty parking tower, and TIF diversion into unnecessary mostly vacant office/commercial development. They built a 4 story city offices building on a whole block where nearby space was available for rent at half price. They had to contract out for bus service management after years of poor schedules and routes. They use a Nebraska company to mow golf courses. Makes you wonder. If they can’t mow grass, they should stay home and (wink wink) call it working from home.

  4. How would a shadow government look? I know in parliamentary democracies they are quite common – like the House of Commons – but with a shadow government how does the ghosting appear on a leadership selfie, which are quite prevalent with our current form of local government?

On second thought, could this shadow government be seen as a “leadership team”, teams which were promised, but have never been forth coming since the 2018 mayoral race?

But I am still not sure how ghosting and doing selfies would work, or is that just further proof that selfies are really not needed when it comes to true leadership, teams or not? #ShadowSelfies? #TuthillParkGhost

  5. Why doesn’t our current transit system penetrate Taupeville, or the Roosevelt High area? I find that rather odd, don’t you? #IncomeApartheid(OrIsItRace?)

  6. Our current SF transit map is Exhibit A of the proof that this town is truly a ‘Tale of Two Cities’. AND, some might even call this schizophrenia, but I would rather call it intentional-phrenia.

  7. But would a shadow government spook our local political leaders, or maybe that would be a good thing? Some around here worry about zombies, but spooking might even be better and more realistic.

  8. You realize if you organize your Precinct Committee Persons, there are 1 male precinct person and 1 female precinct person per each Political Party, 76 Precincts are inside the city limits, the people could rally behind them, hold public meetings, and could develop initiatives and resolutions frequently, enabling them to be very organized to petition the voters to place those items on a public ballot. This takes the authority from the council, cause the people could hold special elections as often as necessary to adopt ordinances, resolutions, or repeal actions of the city council. Just think, if you need 8,000 signatures to place things on the ballot, and you have over 100 Precinct People, think of the # of signatures that each needs to get….

  9. A shadow government could monitor, impact, but not cure Home Rule Charter autocracy. When this charter was voted for, voters didn’t realize they were accepting fascist rule. Charter amendment hasn’t happened and the committee is but a defense for keeping strong mayor dictatorial rule. How about electing someone with campaign promise using current mayoral power to restore democracy with a new charter?
