Oh course folks in South Dakota want this service, so what has our legislature done in 55 years to secure this? Nothing! (last passenger train left SD in 1969).
This just shows how out of touch our legislature is. This form of transportation coming out of our state would benefit thousands of constituents, but instead they concentrate on guns, abortion and diet weed.
If dumb was a legislative body, it would be in Pierre.
Perhaps, this form of transportation is too modern and sophisticated for many of our state legislators. Maybe they would prefer a buggy, a wagon, a horse, or just to walk.
But let’s face it, Ft. Pierre will never be the same again if Amtrak comes to its sister city.
The Reactionary Red-Eye, Sioux Falls to Pierre, overnight, will be a new awakening for our state legislature. In fact, one of the cars on this train will most likely have a bar that will awaken our cowboys and cowgirls and have them to be found partying with transgenders, hippies, and other fine city folks headed to Capitol City to do some testifying. Yes, this train will bring us all together only to be ended by the conductor’s call for: “Next Stop, Pierre”. But then again, nothing lasts forever, even that last shot with Tootsie…. Or, was her name Todd?
