And have you noticed that Halloween has become the new Christmas?
Thanksgiving is the only honest holiday left. Thanks to covid, it has survived and rebounded from the encroachments of a once out of control Black Friday. Although, I do miss the Thanksgiving Day Argus and its ream of paper filled with its many colorful ad pages. Now, that paper either comes in the mail on Wednesday or Friday, I forget which one. I also like Thanksgiving, because it’s the one chance I get to sit down with my crazed uncle at the dinner table and have an entertaining conversation with him. It’s also an opportunity to see my other uncle once again, too, who brings a different bimbo to the Thanksgiving Day dinner table each year, that’s entertaining as well…. In fact, the one a couple of years ago was quite hot…. So, I think I know why my Mom’s brothers never got married, and there have got to be some women out there that are very Thankful about that….
Halloween has become the new Christmas, but that’s somewhat fitting. Because if you ask me, the thought of a white bearded old man in a red and white outfit sneaking into your house late at night is rather spooky as well. And why does he come down the chimney? Isn’t that a perfect conduit for spirits? Oh, and what about the witch’s broomstick and Santa’s reindeer and sled analogy…. Now you see what I’m talking about, don’t you?… In fact, I once had a fundamentalist tell me that S-A-N-T-A was nothing but Satan spelled differently…..
And as far as Vets and VD, well, I could make a really bad joke about them and painted ladies, but I’m not going to go there with that one, because I have a heart and some would say it bleeds….
