UPDATE: Since I posted this story either the developer of city has been sweeping this street everyday. It is appreciated.

This street in front of the apartments wasn’t in stellar shape before construction started and now it is completely destroyed. I wonder who will be paying to resurface and fix this street once construction is done? I would guess just to resurface this street would come to about the same amount the developer paid the city for the lot.

Now there may be something in the contract that requires the developer to reimburse the city for the costs associated with street repair but we know who the developer is . . .

I have also heard tons of comments about the structure from downtowners, none of them positive. Most just don’t understand how such an ugly concrete box got permitted there.

  1. The usual. Something new but ugly that taxpayers must fix. More ‘Sioux Fails Policy’.

  2. Our roads in Sioux falls are the absolute most atrocious and worst condition surfaces I have experienced my entire life, and I’ve been all over the US.

  3. Keep using the city app to report these issues at least it helps get some changes made

  4. Here’s a concept: which drivers are routinely navigating streets all over the city? SFPD patrol officers. Incentivise them to report broken concrete street joints and potholes in need of repair. Give them a GPS tap device which they’d only need to push a button whenever they drive over/through/into broken pavement. GPS device would identify the location of the broken pavement & data could be passed to Street Dept. for repair. Officers who report the most potholes get a gold star.
