It was quite possibly the most ludicrous campaign comment I have heard in a long time. When Poops was running for his first term he did a Q & A with other candidates at Democratic Forum and when asked what he would do about the Dudley House, he made the above comment.

It is obviously not working out for him.

Also, a rumor that has gotten a lot of traction is that Oklahoma sent a couple busloads of Native American homeless folks to South Dakota because ‘we have more resources’ for Natives. What happened next was a massive brawl between Lakota tribal members and natives from Oklahoma.

How does this happen? Lack of leadership, that we will get to in a moment.

If you talk to downtown business owners they will tell you, it is killing business. I was riding Friday and Saturday night downtown (First Friday) and it was pretty mediocre for crowds. Normally First Fridays downtown in the summer are packed.

So we are talking about homelessness Downtown Sioux Falls and the mayor said he was ‘over it’. That is great leadership. NOT!

But in this article, obviously written by Poops’ media staff, he contradicts his feelings on the homeless, just look at these obvious competing quotes;

“Quite honestly, I’m over it,” TenHaken said.

“I’m very passionate about this issue right now,” TenHaken said.

So you don’t care but you are passionate? Huh? You are so full of it, it oozes from your ears and your staff can’t even scoop the bullsh!t away.

We have a homeless issue downtown, isn’t that obvious? Yet our part-time mayor just throws his hands in the air and says let someone else handle it. He should have been on the phone with our DC delegation to have them send a very curt message to the Oklahoma delegation, “The next time a bus shows up from your state, we are going to refuel it, order takeout for the passengers and send them back.”

That’s leadership, not just doing jumping jacks at a middle school.

This of course is no surprise, our city government is so dysfunctional now I even have folks who don’t follow city politics tell me it’s bad. And the city is not willing to spend any money on the issue, just look how they dropped the ball completely on child care, giving a contract to a private law firm to identify the problem. Are you F’ing blind! Apparently so.

I am also extremely annoyed that pigeon605 thought it was okay to show pictures of transients faces. Awful! They deserve privacy just like the rest of us and I am extremely disappointed in them allowing these pics to be posted (notice the police officer pictures you don’t see their faces).

  1. What? Three buses from Oklahoma? Whatever happened to the days when Okies headed to Cali? Janklow once gave us the California Option. Oklahoma has the Sioux Falls Option, but why not Fargo?…. Heck, ‘Why not Minot’?

  2. Maybe we should host a future Olympics so we can bus them out of town for a while…. Harrisburg? #LetsGoBrandon!

  3. There are armies of vagrants roaming the east side. Stay at the duldly over night leave in the morning, get drunk and go to the casinos or look for a opportunity to rob and steal something. Mayor lloyd Co is hoping to pray the situation away and hire more bureaucrats to do nothing but receive a big salary .

  4. You say that there are rumors of busloads of homeless being sent from Oklahoma coming to Sioux Falls and now a brawl- where is there any evidence of this?
    Seriously?
    Nothing in the news.
No police reports – and if there WAS a brawl, there would be police reports.
Nothing other than “there are rumors”
If you check the Oklahoma news reports they have rumors of busloads of homeless being sent there with the same amount of evidence being presented. i.e. none.
I trust this just like when I heard rumors of “busloads of Antifa coming to Sioux Falls to RIOT”
Homelessness is a real problem, and baseless rumors just distract from the real problem. We don’t need out of state boogeymen to be contributing to the homeless problem in Sioux Falls. We, as a city, a state, and as a region, are causing enough of this problem quite well enough on our own.

  5. I don’t reveal my sources. Unlike REAL journalism, I am an editorial blogger, not a traditional journalist so I depend on many sources. Besides, if I would reveal my sources, there would be many unemployed city employees 🙂 As for the rumor, I heard it two weeks ago from a source who works with VIPs all day long in Sioux Falls and they were discussing it with that person. So I have been asking about it. So far I have gotten at least 6 people confirm this with me, people who work DTSF and interact with these folks everyday. As for no police reports, no surprise. After the scanners got shut off I have noticed that crime isn’t getting reported properly. This current admin is famous for closed government, so getting information from them or the media, good luck. Laziest group of folks I have ever met. My best source is ME! I ride late at night and mid mornings DTSF and over the past few weeks the population of homeless seemed to double overnight. That tells me some of them got a ride here, maybe it wasn’t Oklahoma, but a couple of buses did show up. I have lived DTSF for 23 years this month and I have NEVER seen it this bad. Not just the numbers but the activity. I told councilor Merkouris who was put in charge of this mess that a VIP or a VIP’s spouse or kids are going to get hurt or killed by a transient then maybe, just maybe we will do something about it, but my guess we won’t do anything, because as Mayor Poops says, I’m over it already.

  6. Poops has decided that the public cannot be part of the fix to a broken system. Poops decided to hide the issues and problems of the town from us. When the mess is to the point of tipping over the edge, Poops collapses in front of us instead of searching for solutions. Anthony names Poop’s answer, “No police reports” This is due to the encryption of the 911 system so we never hear what is actually going on.

poops is looking for a rock to crawl under and the city is looking for a rock to put on him. The town is done with him. Maybe we should have Nora take over so he can go play with the kids?

  7. still seeing a convoy of 4-5 lifted trucks coal-rolling the outdoor seating downtown on weekends. oh, and the license plates are all from Iowa. is that the dutch mafia at work? thanks for doing absolutely nothing about it mr mayor.

  8. Your bike rides have become ‘Patrol’ that’s a method for reporting. Police are looking for recruits and specify criminal justice from college or work record at McDonalds. When there’s no cops and no reporters, we become vigilantes. I’m thinking the mayor should walk the streets instead of around his desk at 9th and Main. Many homeless came here looking for work. Offer them a bus ticket home or a job mowing golf courses. Others don’t want to work. Lead them to social services at the county or give them a bus ticket south before winter (Snowturds).

  9. Attention Everyone:

I have told you all for years, the “Residents of a City” are merely pawns, subjects allowed to live, work, and entertain themselves in a “Political Sub-Division”. The true power behind a “City” lies with the Landowners, Property Holders themselves. They own the land, established their “government” upon the land, creating their “POLIS” to which houses the Public Institution (City Hall, Administration Buildings, Public Infrastructure, Roads). They put in place their Administrative System (Mayor, Council, Department Supervisors, Managers, Employed Work Staff), thus creating their Religious Establishment of Ordaining their Rules, Codes, and Promises. Remember how Sioux Falls was first established – from Business Charters from two companies, one from Iowa and one from Minnesota. In 1902, they established their Commission Form of Government, allowing Resident to participate in electing “Commissioners” or “District Councilors” today giving them a voice inside the government. But in reality, the LANDOWNERS control the house.
