Update: I guess this guy is waiting for his insurance claim before he can tear down and build a duplex. Stay patient 🙂

I get so many emails about this place by numerous citizens that I decided to post it, it is at 33rd and Duluth. It was knocked off it’s foundation by a car hitting it, not sure when it happened but Google took this pic in September. A retired city employee told me that when he worked for the city, this would have been remedied pretty quickly. A city backhoe could literally tear this place down in 30 minutes (save the tree!);

  1. This situation is symbolic of how local government no longer works for average citizens anymore. If you want to know why they hesitate to plow or lay salt after a storm, or why they have “red lines” after a storm, and why they don’t try to deal with panhandlers and homelessness until it gets out of hand, then you only have to look at the corner of 33rd and Duluth to understand why. Because, the reason is that our local political leaders are too busy facilitating the developers and not the citizens. Governing has become a lost art for our local political leaders because they are too busy being errand boys for the few, the connected, and the established who run this town and are running it into the ground, which is actually, ironically, what should be happening to his former home at 33rd and Duluth…. So, I don’t doubt it, when a former city employee claims that in the past, the far past, that this situation would have been handled rather “quickly”, but that was then, and this is now…. A time when our local government has been hijacked not for the good but for the few…. #PerhapsMcKennanParkPhobia? #ItsTheirOnlyPlausibleAffirmativeDefense #DontCallTheMayorToReportAPotHole #RiverLineDistrict&Why? #LocalBoutiqueShopsCollapsingEconomicallyButTheSteelDistrictHasTwoNewOnesYippy!

    ( and Woodstock adds: “Say, is there any chance they could save this house until after Halloween so the local
    Jay-Cees could use it as a haunted house?’…. 🙂 )

  2. An additional rant – This house has been like this since March or February… It will be ’25 pretty soon.

    AND, I’m shocked that Augie hasn’t been after the city about this one. Because it ain’t (If I went to Augie, I would have used the word “isn’t”.) far from their nice new ice hockey arena…. 🙂
