These letters really get annoying;

Sioux Falls has a rare opportunity in the upcoming mayoral election in candidate Mike Huether. I’ve known Mike for more than 25 years and respect his leadership, candor and stewardship. These are qualities that Sioux Falls will need as we look to the future.

Whoopy shit. I have known my mom my whole life, maybe we should vote for her. Why do people think testimonial letters from friends help get people elected, especially when there isn’t any honesty in them?

Mike demonstrated his effectiveness as a leader by helping to build an organization that employs more than 1,500 people in Sioux Falls. He demonstrated leadership as a director of The Banquet, working with others from that great organization to deliver services to our neighbors.

So it’s important to mention the Banquet, but not important to mention First Premier. Maybe because some of the people eating at the Banquet racked up debt from having a FP Credit Card?

I want to thank Mayor Dave Munson and his wife Linda for their service to the citizens of Sioux Falls.

This sentence alone tells us we shouldn’t take this person’s word on electing anybody.

4 Thoughts on “Please, people, stop writing letters about your BFF running for office

    Certainly, enough BFF letters. I remember the writer’s name. I just know they’ll soon be associated with some sort of bizarre mind control cult.

    ‘The Banquet’ is well managed. Unlike most charities, a majority of donations goes straight to the needy. Mr. Heuther deserves respect for his involvement.

    Otherwise, I’m not sure he has the right leadership traits.

    Whichever candidate comes out to repeal Home-Rule is my choice. City government must return to constitutional democracy.

  2. I agree the Banquet is run very well, but there seems to be a little ‘Janklow’ mentality going on. Janklow used to to do very good things for some of the unfortunate of the state, then turnaround and screw someone over. I just don’t believe in that philosophy.

    Frankly I just find the timing of these letters a bit odd. Do these people really expect people to remember a letter like this months and months from now when they head to the voting booth?

    Hell… most voters have a hard enough time remembering the candidates names much less specific facts about them.

  4. It’s like I told Kermit and Mike both, I only hear about two candidates ever, Kermit and Mike and always hear positive things about both of them. Even when a person brings up one they say something nice about the other.
