A South DaCola foot soldier sent me this pict the other day while in Minneapolis. I can’t wait to buy good wine at a cheap price.

10 Thoughts on “Dreaming of discount wine

No kidding. Between the hot dry weather making my grape vines start to drop their leaves already – an attack of powdery mildew (fixed) and the hordes of thirsty birds – my grape crop is gonna be well short of the ability to produce as much wine as I am accustomed to this year.

I’m excited to be able to find sparkling water, San Pellegrino and huge containers of Virginia peanuts at a humanly affordable price again! Does that make me a conceited snob? 😉

Now if we could get a Whole Foods and a Trader Joe’s here we would be world-class!

I plan to build a ‘Pistachio’ room after Costco opens.

Forgive me for being so dense, but is Costco similar to Sam’s Club, etc?

Mrs. Jew and I have considered joining a warehouse club, but cringe at the thought of Sam’s. Costco has been tossed around because we have a location close by.
In addition to the San Pellegrino, lawn furniture, and other hippy shit, can you also buy groceries in bulk quantities?

Costco could be called the “upscale” warehouse club. Nicer stuff. Doesn’t feel like a warehouse version of Walmart. Company is known for taking care of its employees with industry-leading wages and benefits and it shows when you interact with them. And yes lots of excellent regular everyday grocery items in bulk along with the higher-end goods.

Better treatment of employees at Costco as well. This is an old article, but employees can unionize. I would work there over Walmart / Sams.

  10. They cater to yearly household incomes of $100,000 or more, that is why it has taken them so long to come to SF.

And they do treat their employees well. ‘qualified’ employees, that is.
