I have known about Pat Lloyd’s appointment for a long time, which was just recently renewed by mayor Huether;

It has been a concern of mine for quite a while, but after the recent River Greenway improvements in front of a proposed hotel being developed by Pat’s husband, Craig Lloyd, that concern has been turned up a notch.
To be honest with you, I have fielded many complaints about this from former city volunteer board members, citizens and even council members that think this is a clear conflict of interest.

There is something I have known about Sioux Falls for a very long time, it’s who you know, not what you know. Not to sound like Tim Stenga, but there is a select group of people controlling things in Sioux Falls. Do you think it was an accident that the Events Center is going to be named after Denny Sanford? Do you think that any other business in Sioux Falls or even regionally or nationally had a chance?
What shocks me about Pat’s appointment is the blatant in your face conflict of interest. Why would she vote against anything that would benefit her husband’s development business?
Notice who is not sitting on the parks board . . . Joe Six-Pack. There is a reason for that. Joe would never vote for a spray park in front of a hotel.
UPDATE: According to Lloyd Companies website, she is listed as co-owner with Craig, so this even worries me more.
Doesn’t surprise me. I also suspect Lloyd hidden in dummy corporations for EC construction. Companies that won contracts before EC vote and without competitive bid process.
More apparent evidence the easiest government to corrupt is local government.
We also have Patti Abdallah, who sits on both the Park Board and the Zoological Board. The issue with this is that the Park Board oversees the Zoological Society.
Last December, when the Park Board approved the new management agreement with the Zoo, I questioned the City about why Park Board member Abdallah did not abstain from the vote given that she also sits on the Zoological Board.
This is the answer provided by the City:
After checking with the City Attorney’s office we have determined that Board member Abdallah didn’t have a conflict of interest and therefore did not need to abstain from voting on the zoo management agreement. In hindsight to avoid any perception of a conflict of interest, she may want to abstain from voting in future similar situations.

Well, at least Patti is up to something, since Gene is unemployed – LOL! I heard a rumor he is going to help out the Democrats. I suggest they get rid of mirrors and get out some ashtrays in headquarters.

Sorry, but I think Pat Lloyd is perfect for the Park Board, as are some of the other members like Millage & Nyberg. Our Parks system is one of the few things we can hang our hat on as something that we actually do better than most our peer Cities. This position needs people with vision who aren’t afraid to make a long term play, even if it costs a little more. Far too often the pressure is to spend the bare minimum on these “frills” and over the long term we pay for that. It costs nothing to spend a day in the park and these people want to maximize that experience for all walks of life.
Sy, stop being a patsy. It is very clear that a co-owner of one of the largest development companies in the city shouldn’t be making decisions on parks and rec. The parks of SF belong to ALL of us, not just to developers who want us to subsidize spray parks in front of their hotel developments.

Is this really what that vast “silent majority” of Sioux Falls residents believe their tax dollars should be invested in……..
