I got word today that three possible council candidates picked up nominating petitions.

Rick Kiley

Rick Kiley for the SE District (Challenging Bonita Schwan)

I would assume he is a Huether recruit after reading his resume:

He currently sits on the Falls Community Health Board and is currently the director of the South Dakota Motor-cycle Rider Education Program, with numerous years of experience in driver education and safety. Mr. Kiley also brings a distinct perspective to the board gathered from his roles with the South Dakota Roadway Safety Committee and the South Dakota Impaired Driving Task Force. Traffic safety has played a major role in his life and career, and Mr. Kiley wishes to continue to serve the community through his role on the CAC.

He also sits on the Citizens Advisory Committee.

Curtis Rust for the Central District (Challenging Michelle Erpenbach)

Curtis is a former city councilor (2004?) And has a ‘reputation‘ in Siouxer City.

Rebecca Dunn for the Central District (Challenging Michelle Erpenbach)

This candidate excites me the most. Rebecca is the former minority leader of the Democratic Party in the State Legislature. Read all about her, a great challenger to ‘Special Interests’ Erpenbach.

10 Thoughts on “Three possibly new council candidates

  1. Erp could stand taking a lesson from Rebecca.

  2. I know of Rick Kiley but not on a personal level. From what I do know he is a stand-up guy who has a lot of passion for what he does. I’d guess you are WAY off base assuming he is a Huether recruit, and I’d encourage you to learn more before dismissing him as a legitimate candidate.

I also know Rebecca Dunn both personally and professionally. She is personable and likable, but I’d bet you $10 her campaign materials will show a headshot of her that looks like it was taken in 1991 at Glamour Shots. Rebecca might suffer from the same condition as some of our other councilors as she is somewhat disconnected from the world around her, but since she has been out of the game for so many years perhaps that has changed.

You’ll probably like her a lot Scott because in terms of the political spectrum she is about four notches to the left of Rachel Maddow.

  3. Well, I would assume he knows Huether, since he was appointed to 2 city boards by the man.

Yeah, I have been hearing a lot of good things about Dunn.

  4. Rebecca Dunn is from another era, that’s for sure. I will say, the seminar she does did make a big difference for my step son. Really got him out of his shell and helped him over come his fear of speaking in public. I wonder if all the conservative home schooling parents who send their kids to her know she is a democrat.

  5. Is the Director of Motorcyle Education a full time paying job? If so, what a tremendous waste of money.

  6. Well, Rust certainly doesn’t seem like someone enamored of code enforcement. Should draw the votes of the anti-code crowd then – no?

Kiley does not stand a chance to Bonita Schwan. He should save his time & money. The power of Save Our Neighborhood is behind her and she will be unbeatable on April 8th.

Coming from someone who straddles the right field foul line, left center prolly does look like the left field foul line. 😉

  9. What is the link to Rust for? It just takes me to the KTIV website.

  10. Read the ENTIRE story.
