As I have said in the past, Mike likes to take credit for a lot of things he really had nothing to do with and Ellis does a little digging on the topic;
At that point Nelson interrupted Huether: “They already had plans for all of that,†she said.
“No,†the mayor replied. “I truly apologize, but no. The investment plans for the new airport, those are things that have been done over the last four years.â€
Huether took office in May 2010. But he didn’t get a chance to make his first appointments to the airport authority board until September of 2011, when the terms of board members Hal Wick and Dean Sorenson expired. Both Wick and Sorenson had been appointed by former Mayor Dave Munson.
Wick, Sorenson and three other Munson appointees were on the board when, in February 2011, the board voted to offer an incentive package worth $250,000 to any new airliner that came to the city. Frontier announced a few days later in March that it would begin service that summer. So it was a Munson-appointed board that brought in Frontier.
It reminds me of how he stole the Snowgates idea from Staggers, but ultimately Stehly will be the one to get the job done, but I’m sure somehow, MMM will take credit for it.
In other news, Mike Rounds invented YouTube: http://dakotawarcollege.com/nelson-takes-a-page-from-the-rounds-playbook-and-starts-posting-stand-with-stace-videos/
I wonder what Ellis’ email inbox looked like this morning? I am sure he was ripped in half for doing accurate reporting.
I wonder whatever happened to the downtown Railroad Relocation …..
Another one of those projects MMM was going to get r’done!!
Truly ridiculous.
Following a head to head meeting/luncheon, MMM told KSFY’s Mark Roper that he wouldn’t get into [Jamison contentions that MMM wasn’t being completely honest about accomplishments] … probably because Jamison nailed it. Next time I hear about TGPOSF (the good people of Sioux Falls), I think I’ll have to throw something at the TV.
Everything about the events center was forced. Contracts were awarded before citizens voted and before a location was decided. Naming rights happened suddenly. Due process is not observed for any city action. It why our government is undemocratic. Everything is developer schemes facilitated by Huether and named Sanford.
Ellis was way to generous with mmm. He was caught in a lie, and Ellis gave him the Reagan dementia out.
if mmm wants to take credit for lower airfares, does he want to take the blame when they rise?
Thanks to Al Gore, I able to comment on this blog from time to time…
I was at the Summit games yesterday, as was the Mayor, he was walking around and waiving to everyone and saying thanks for coming. As we were leaving he was driving and hanging out the window still doing the same thing. Then a friend of mine had the quote of the day, she said “You can just tell he would be pissed and fly off the handle if you didn’t know who he was.” Nailed it!!
Airfares are low for Allegiant. They’re higher than ever for the other carriers. The airport has more traffic because the city is in the right place at the right time. It really urns me when Huether turns things around to give himself credit for something that happened by itself and that he had nothing to do with. Huether made a huge mistake expanding surface parking at the airport. It’s often full. A 4 – story parking garage should have been built.
