A few tidbits about some of the discussions I have had over the past couple of days.
Is the city going Broke?
Many of us are beginning to get suspicious about all the proposed fee increases going on in our city. From the Events Center to the Indoor pool it seems are city finance department is scrambling to raise more revenue. Just look at the Mayor’s obsession with the 3rd Penny Tax implementation this last legislative session.
How is our NEW Human Rights Coordinator doing?
Besides her hiring announcement on CityLink and on Stormland TV on March 16, I have heard nothing about whatĂ‚Â Vandhana Baireddy has been up to. In fact, I haven’t seen her since on the local media or at public meetings. Does she still work for the city?
The Herding of the Homeless?
There has been a rumor floating around that the SFPD has been rounding up the undesirables, the drunkards and homeless troublemakers on Friday afternoons downtown to prep the area for all the yuppies enjoying cigars, bad acoustic music and meals on the Minerva’s patio over the weekend. Not sure if it is true, but I have noticed they seem to be non-existant on the weekends. In all fairness it may be the success of the Dudley House?
Hmmm, seems there’s never trouble until it’s a disaster. City finance reporting has been vague throughout the Huether rule. There’s a pattern of how the city looks without focus on prevalent problems. Seems like the city hires when the mayor needs an ally or returns a favor. It’s not just the half billion debt, it’s also unjustified hiring and irresponsible programs. The city council contemplates temporary liquor licenses but there’s a cover up for checks they should be apprised of. Yes, about the homeless. The county took care of them but they can no longer handle the scale. The city must also provide social services or more budget redirected to the county. There’s pride for Sioux Falls prosperity but there’s shame for the waste and fallout.
according to the argus the human rights person is gone already.
The answer to question #2:

It seems now there are even more questions.
Looks like we got our answer

Probably a problem because she was hired to perform per her title and job description. Doesn’t work for Huether. Must bow toward him.
There’s no racial tension in Sioux Falls unless you’re other than white (or tanned) hanging out at the mayor’s parks, near Phillips downtown, staying at the city hotel, or trying to get into one of the new indoor sports centers. Even tho democrat, the mayor worries about race riots. I’m surprised it’s not tyrant policy for white and colored bathrooms.
you were right about the human rights person, you just may be right about the city going broke. of course, it won’t go broke until after mmm runs for governor/house of representatives/senate. and then it will all be his successors fault.
