Hey greg, or you, mr mayor, a question about our streets. I know you all read this blog, so riddle me this. We had a gully washer last summer in the SW part of the city. That gully washer ripped out many, many miles of the rubber caulking that kept water out between cement slabs on streets. I drove daily between Marion Road and Louise Avenue daily on 49th street. The city had at least 3 months to refill those cracks with rubber caulking. Did they? Nope. Those open cracks to this day have never been addressed. So now we have all the streets in SW Sioux Falls with major water integrity issues that are going to heave and crack this spring. So, why did the city not fill these cracks when they had the chance? Did you run out of money after you gave the huether tennis courts $500,000? Just wondering.
There’s a reason no city politician has ever advanced. None has become governor or congressman. They’re all like Huether. He’s the engine that runs the machine in circles until it runs out of gas. Why do something productive when you can play tennis, swim, and go to concerts full time with daddy’s money. Sioux Falls is the humor it takes for the state to manage without being to serious. West River regards Sioux Falls as still in Minnesota.
Poly is on the right track. The town might be a boom town on the downward. The Mayor has overspent the 1st penny sales tax revenue trying to upkeep the wasteful projects built with the second penny projects. None of the Mayor’s gleaming building projects are ever going to be successful enough to cover their costs.
The rubber caulking Poly refers to is only part of the infrastructure issues we will continue to have as our boom town continues to bust because of a singular vision not in focus with real needs.
‘Boom town continues to bust’. Our time will have come and gone. It’s to bad we’ve had an egotistical tyrant use potential infrastructure benefit for extravagant unnecessary entertainment structures. I’m wondering how a mayor becomes a multimillionaire on 100k annual salary.
