After watching the absentee voting numbers over the past week and the lack of enthusiasm from the media or the city on the upcoming election, I figured I picked a good number. Up until this point I figured it would be between 8-12%.
The city announced today at the informational they will be mailing a precinct voting location postcard out to the eligible voters “Sometime between Friday and Monday”.
How long have they known about this election? And they mail out a card that close to the election?
I give up.

3 Thoughts on “South DaCola voter turnout prediction, 9 percent.

That is an awfully late mailing. The media is also keeping this below the radar. You may even be high with your 9% prediction. The one percenters love low voter turnout because it allows them to pick their own voters and tilt the Council into the special interest toilet.

I agree this is a really late mailing. Especially for the voter’s who may need the translation of English. This doesn’t seem racially fair in a town that proclaims diversity. The act of impartiality would do more than the word service of it. Also, be fair to the elderly and impoverished who may need ample time to line up a ride to the polls. This appears to be more of a trend to keep equality out of Politics in Minnehaha County and Sioux Falls in particular.

The state, the city, the county and the school district rely on low voter turnout to keep the status quo. They may be in for a rude awakening on Tuesday when that strategy backfires on them.
