What does the Events Center failures (or successes?), forcing an illegal interference in a pool vote and the waste of federal money on railroad tracks have to do with voting pattern studies?

I know (eyes rolling) I wanted to say, “What qualifies you to defend him?”
Addressing the mayor’s irregular follies would take days. Then, another month of federal court testimony for investigating corruption. It’s coming but don’t cloud the minds of citizen zombies. Make them pay with new taxes until the municipal bankruptcy. They understand hardship and will either move away and/or make sure Huetherism never happens again.
The woman who commented at Forum about taking your children to political events and to vote is right on point.
Our democracy does not begin for any of us in this country as soon as we turn 18, rather it potentially begins with our historic memory at a very young age. It is up to the parents to understand that involvement, explaining, and exposing one to good citizenship is a part of that necessary rearing of a child in a land that claims to cherish freedom.
That women went on to mention that she met Jack Kennedy and Eleanor Roosevelt at a young age because her parents brought her to political events as a child. That women had good parents and I did too. I still remember as a young child seeing HHH and Ted Kennedy in ’64 when they came to campaign for the LBJ/HHH ticket that year and later on shaking Bobby Kennedy’s hand in ’68. These types of events are crucial in developing a positive mindset for young Americans to get involved or to at least stay abreast of the issues of the day and to vote later in life as responsible citizens…
However, as we increasing develop more and more first, second, and third generations of Americans who are removed from these historic memories do to cynicism, indifference, and a pure inward self gratification mentality our ability to promote good citizenship as a parental necessity I am afraid is being lost in our society today at an alarming speed. I do not have the answer to this problem other than to hope that a run of positive charismatic leaders can change it soon. But it seems that most of our charismatic leaders today who show any signs of hope or inspiration are thankfully no longer the victims of an assassin yet still unfortunately the victims instead of Americans constant need to be entertained with their short attention spans in hand….
John Kennedy Claussen, thank you for articulating a very important concept so eloquently. FYI, former SD State Legislator Rebecca Dunn was the audience member who shared those sentiments at the Democratic Forum.
Scott and Bruce understand the true meaning of citizenship. I salute their commitment to open and informed government. Funny how their detractors attack them personally rather than take issue with what they are saying.
Blasphemo, thank you for the info and compliment. I did not attend this Forum. I just watched the video. I am not surprised that it was Rebecca though. She is a good American and a good Democrat and comes from a great South Dakota family.
