One party rule, combined with unknown unknowns mixed with interesting ethics issues and what can we South Dakotans do about it? Why is the major force fighting initiated measure to 22 to revise State campaign finance and lobbying laws, create a publicly funded campaign finance program, create an ethics commission, and appropriate funds to pay a paid Koch Brothers – Americans for Progress advocate?

Look at the proponents and see people shut out of government for almost 40 years because they are not connected to the halls of power for various reasons. In this video we have Darrell Solberg, a Sioux Falls small business owner squaring off against Ben Lee, a representative of the one of the richest groups in America, An interesting mix at the Sioux Falls IPC on September 15, 2016 League of Women Voters issues debate.

They fight because they have the money to run over us and we the people fight because we must to survive.

4 Thoughts on “Anti-Corruption Act Measure 22 at IPC 2016-09-15

  1. Thank you for posting this so that I could see the debate as I was not fortunate enough to attend in person!

However, I am NO in a big way on IM 22!

$12M per election for publicly funded campaigns…then its first come first serve that seems a bit deceptive also if people send in their Democracy credits and they are not actually used.

And why on earth are the University presidents picking members of this board…that seemed crazy to me also.

Plus I don’t like how it is all funded by out of state money. I went and looked it up for myself at the Secretary of State page…It is true, some group named “Represent Us” is funded IM 22…well they don’t represent me…

    NO on 22!

Your last sentence speaks volumes. I don’t agree with public funding of elections. Simply, candidates keep what they don’t spend. There will be more candidates and future budget because it’s like applying for guaranteed welfare. There should be restricted spending from special interests. They come in to our state because big money can control our representatives in congress and electoral votes.

The system’s broke but this is not how you fix it. In the age of supercomputers, the popular vote can be instantly counted and should decide everything. No more electoral college and special interests corruption.

  4. John. Don’t really know if you are just really naive, or think you are pulling a fast one on the so called ignorant masses. If it’s the latter, then you are on the wrong blog. People here actually read the ballot questions through, most researching it as they go along. Myself, anytime I see the koch brothers spending more and more dark money to defeat measures like this, the more I know I am in favor of that measure. Some advice? You wanna spread your brand of rhetoric to knuckle draggers? Go to the belfrage blog. Of course all you’ll reach is the same 8 people who call in every day.
