City Council Informational Meeting – 4 PM

There is 3 presentations and an executive session, but NO linked documents in SIRE yet. Which is ironic since one of the presentations has to do with SIRE. The other two presentations will be about the USD Discovery Center and Compensation study with the city.

Regular Council meeting – 7 PM

After the council gets past the 85 alcohol licensing renewals and transfers and some rezones, we move to;

Items #109 & 111. In one last final gift to SMG, Huether digs up $500K of supplemental appropriations for the Convention Center for a new AV system out of the Entertainment tax, which they claim SMG generates anyway.

Amend the Other Capital Expenditures Program by adding AV equipment upgrade in 2018. The estimated cost is $500,000 and will require an increase in appropriations that will be funded by the Entertainment Tax Fund using funds contributed by SMG.

Funny, I thought the consumer was the one contributing the tax and SMG was the one collecting it.

Item #114, New council appointments;

Pat Starr & Theresa Stehly to SECOG, Appointed for a term from July 2018 until June 2019.

Janet Brekke, Greg Neitzert, Rick Kiley and Pat Starr to UDC, Appointed for a term from July 2018 until June 2019.

Item #115, New Audit Committee appointments;

Greg Neitzert, Rick Kiley, Curt Soehl and Theresa Stehly. Appointed for a term from July 2018 to June 2019.

There is also a Planning Commission meeting on Wednesday at 6 PM.

3 Thoughts on “Sioux Falls City Council Agenda – June 5, 2018

  1. What? Sanford doesn’t need a liquor license this week? What gives?…. Oh, they probably heard that law enforcement was going to step up the number of sobriety checkpoints this summer…..

  2. D@ily Spin on June 3, 2018 at 8:51 pm said:

    Maybe council meetings should be reauthorized as Liquor License Board. There’s to much liquor and not enough action. It’s starting to sound like the old 5 commissioners form of government better served the public. It’s cheaper and better than 12 expensive nonproductive directors.

  3. Can a guy get a liquor license and a TIF all in one night around here? And would that be called twofers, or merely a shot of Blarney, I mean a shot at blight?…. Or would that be an attempt at blarney hopefully turning into blight?
