It was pretty pathetic to watch Darrin openly laugh at councilor Stehly when she was questioning him about a budget amendment for the Black History Museum. Once the video comes up you will see him. Sadly, Stehly couldn’t see this because she was tele conferencing due to family issues. It is incredibly disrespectful for anyone to laugh at the councilors when they are being questioned about budgets, it is even more egregious for a Director of a Facility that the city owns, subsidizes and maintains with our tax dollars to laugh at the very person who is allocating the money on behalf of the taxpayers. Darrin learned well with his brief stint in city government from one of the best. Avoid, confuse and embarrass your foes. Sad really. But I wouldn’t expect anything less from a guy who hired a cartoonist youth pastor to help run an arts facility.

Scott, as you mentioned,I was not at the meeting because I am with my mother in the hospital.( I appreciate all the prayers and loving support from the community.) I spoke with Darrin Smith. He assured me that he appreciated my questions and my ammendment, which the council approved.
Darrin “if you financially support my mayoral campaign and I should fall short – I’ll still be on the Council†Smith? Every now and then, I have to remind someone of all the down a rat hole political contributions we have made, Darrin stands apart.
Myself and thousands of other residents appreciate everything Theresa does on our behalf. She does not do it to see her name in the paper, or hear her name on the radio, or see herself on TV. She does it because she genuinely cares about the Joe’s and Jane’s of our community. She has a quality a whole of people in government could learn from. This is not the first time she has been openly laughed at. I have seen it time after time after time. Even her so-called “fellow†councilors jump in and throw her under the bus for something as simple as asking the questions we want answers to.
Darrin Smith has always been someone to ignore. I doubt he’ll last throughout the TenHaken term. When he’s thrown under the bus, I doubt anyone will notice the bump.
i believe smith was a bit taken aback by the whole situation. my understanding is the pavillion wasn’t requesting the money but rather starr was asking for the funds on behalf of the museum folks. I like pat, but that was the most disjointed bumbling request i’ve ever seen.
smith was being asked to explain a request neither he, nor the pavillion had anything to do with. the situation itself was amusing and all caused by starr.
